So You Want to Be A Travel Agent?
TARGET GRADE: 4 - heterogeneous grouping
RELEVANCE: Students have already completed power point presentations for their computer class and are therefore familiar with the program. The students will be using their knowledge and understanding of the power point program to create a slide show that will enhance their travel agent presentation of their researched state.
OBJECTIVES: Each student will design a 5 page power point presentation to aid in their oral presentation of their researched state.
Each student will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the power point program by successfully completing all necessary requirements of the 5 page presentation.
MATERIALS: students information on their researched state, computer with power point program
LESSON DESCRIPTION:
Each student must create a slide show of exactly 5 pages to aid them in presenting the information on their state. Although the students will get to choose some of the information they will present, they must still follow certain guidelines in their presentation.
SLIDE 1: Your state name, your name, a graphic of your choice
SLIDE 2: The name of your capital city and 2 interesting places to visit in the capital
SLIDE 3 & 4: 3 other interesting places to visit in your state and their locations in your state along with graphics to enhance the information
SLIDE 5: a list of places where I could find more information on your state
(this list is your bibliography)
Use the same transition between each slide and make the transitions manual so you can advance to the next screen once you have finished talking about each one. You may vary background color and text color to your preference.
Each student will receive a copy of these guidelines to use as a checklist while completing their presentations. These slide shows, along with the brochures the students have created, will be a part of each students oral presentation on their state.
ASSESSMENT: Students will be assessed on this assignment according to whether or not they followed each of the given guidelines and according to how well they used the power point presentation to aid them in their oral presentation. Did the student meet each requirement in the guidelines? Did he/she use the slide show as an outline for the presentation or did they strictly read exactly what was written? Did the student complete only the minimum requirements for the assignment or did he/she go beyond those requirements to make the presentation better?
