Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was very important to the Revolutionary War.  He was born in 1743 and his father was a landowner.  He studied at the College of William and Mary under George Wythe.  He was a representative in the Virginia House of Burgesses and was elected to the Second Continental Congress.  Later, he became a member of the House of Delegates.  He was motivated by an interest in rights for farmers.  He is best known for the concepts of the separation of church and state and a tax supported elementary education system.
