Target Grade/Subject: 4th block 10th grade English class. The novel A Tale of Two Cities is required reading for all tenth graders at Jamestown.

Objective: While reading our class novel, A Tale of Two Cities, 10th graders will read and post their responses on a list serve at least once a week.

Materials: We need at least thirteen computers and lab time--twenty minutes twice a week. They also need their copies of A Tale of Two Cities.

Lesson Description: Bring all students for an initial class in the lab where we will all subscribe to the list serve at once and learn how to post messages. This will be a good opportunity for students who feel more comfortable writing than speaking to “discuss” the novel. It will also increase their fluency, putting their thought and ideas into words.

Evaluation Procedure: Each Friday afternoon at 3pm I will check the list serve archives and see if each student has posted at least once that week. They will either pass or fail for each week.
