ALMA MATER: Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA
GRANT EXPECTATIONS: "I want the technology environments
for our pre-service practicums to be exemplary, and for our students
to become leaders in technology integration."
FUNNIEST STUDENT STORY: " I used to have students
rank themselves on a scale from 0-5 (5 being the highest) and
one student ranked herself a negative 1. And I said, 'All you
need to be is one step ahead of somebody to be their technology
guru.' By the end of the semester she relayed a story that one
day in church, while talking to some fellow parishioners, she
overheard them saying how great it would be to be able to send
out personalized messages, reminders, etc., to anyone in the
congregation. She quickly responded that that sounded like a
database. She is now the technology guru at her church."

FUNNIEST STUDENT STORY: "Following the Presidential
Election of 2000, one student was asked to role-play a teacher
responding to a student asking who he voted for. He responded
to the student by saying that he did not vote. Since this was
a social studies methods class the college students were quite
shocked and asked why. He responded by saying he was out of town
and hadn't received an absentee ballot. When asked where he was
from he said, 'Florida'! This sent the class into an uproar."
