Business Aspects

"The business of America is Business."
President Calvin Coolidge

When one thinks of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, what comes to mind are big colorful balloons, creative floats, talented marching bands and holiday music from entertainment stars. A casual onlooker can easily look past the business aspects of this event. The tradition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade would not be as popular without the companies that sponsor it and hold contracts with Macy's. Companies supply an enormous amount of money to parade their insignia or mascot down Broadway. The floats act as a part of the companies' advertising campaigns. Working together, Macy's and other companies associated with the parade rake in publicity and profits through this holiday spectacle.

Not only does the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade benefit companies, it also benefits New York City. During this popular weekend, hotels provide a variety of different packages that promote the parade as well as one of the biggest shopping days of the year, "Black Friday." In addition to the visitor packages there are products and toys replicated from floats and ballons that are sold year round to promote the parade.

Through this section of the site, you will see the ways in which Macy's and other companies benefit from The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
