Interdisciplinary Education: What Can the Trail Teach Us?

I will approach how the game has been used in different aspects of education. For example, The Oregon Trail has been included in curriculum for ESL classes, high school decision-making course, and the ubiquitous elementary-school curriculum. I will also explore how the game combines History, English, Mathematics, etc. and the implications of and ideas behind interdisciplinary educational games.

"I liked how the game was green. Shooting the animals was fun, but I never made it to Oregon . I always got stuck on the Mississippi . I think the game’s purpose is to learn to budget your money and make sure your Oxen don’t die."

Casey, sophomore
