Jeff Doyle Returns to W&M as Seminar Speaker

   Early in the fall 2007 semester, we were fortunate to see alumni Jeff Doyle (WM '75) again as he spoke in the Biology Departments’ Seminar Series (links to pdf ) . Dr. Doyle spoke to a full room about his extensive research on “Polyploidy and evolution of soybean and allies”.
   After graduating from the W&M Biology Department, Jeff went to Indiana University, and in 1981 received his Doctorate degree conducting biosystematic studies on Claytonia virginica, the wildflower Virginia springbeauty.

   Jeff Doyle is now a professor at Cornell University in the Department of Plant Biology. His research in the field of molecular systematics in soybeans and other taxa has led to over 125 publications in his career so far!

Alumna Success Story: Laura Green

    Laura Green (W&M Class of 1997) has many post-William and Mary successes, including completing medical school and securing a job at Johns Hopkins. She receives our kudos because she successfully submitted information to the department using our Alumni Information Update form! Here’s what Laura wrote us:

   “I am an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, anterior segment and refractive surgery and an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University and on the full time staff of the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore . I am active in the teaching of our residents and medical students. I am more than happy to talk with and advise pre-med students!”
