Teachers Helping Teachers Integrate Technology into the Classroom
PROCESS: THE 'STEPS' THAT MUST BE TAKEN
PART 1: Making The Connections
1. Working individually, with a colleague, or as a grade level team, make connections with other teachers using technology by clicking on the websites located on the Resources page and viewing the relevant information at each site.
- Go to The Miss Rumphius Award winners homepage and take time to carefully review the projects these teachers have created with their students. Make sure to write any interesting ideas, activities, or ways of presenting information in your journal.
- Go to the Teachers' Voices page to get to know some of the Miss Rumphius Award winners, how they got started using technology with their students, and what projects they created or are working on.
- Browse several of the mailing lists or list servs available and chose one to join. Enter into discussion with other educators over the list serv about topics related to integrating technology in the classroom you are curious about.
- E-mail a Miss Rumphius Award winner by clicking on their e-mails on The Miss Rumphius Award winners' homepage and asking questions specific to your needs or concerns.
- Visit sites that include tips for teachers from other teachers and information on collaborative partnering or projects. Remember to jot any tips, suggestions, or ideas in your journal.
Part 2: Recognizing The Connections
Once you have followed the steps in Part 1, you will become familiar with the best resources out there for you and also begin to develop what you want to do in your classroom.
- You will develop a “resources guide” for using technology in your classroom by referring to the journal you have been keeping while making connections with teachers over the Internet.
- You will then fill out a Resources Guide about the BEST people and resources you found on the Internet.
