Ann Hewitt
John Schmerfeld
Currently employed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
in Gloucester, John has worked as a biologist for over 15 years
both inside and outside the U.S. as an adjunct biology professor,
coral reef researcher, toxic tort litigation consultant, and conservation
biologist. Presently, he studies the effects of contaminants and
habitat loss on Virginia wildlife and works to restore lost resources.
He and his family moved here from Hawaii four years ago. His wife,
Jennifer Daly, is a professor of psychology at the College of
William and Mary and his son, Jonathan, is in the 5th grade at
Clara Byrd Baker Elementary. John lends his expertise by representing
the Friends on several county environmental committees.
