The 204 members of our first-year class hail from 31 states, Australia, Canada and Taiwan. The Class of 2008 has a median undergraduate grade point average of 3.63, a median LSAT of 164 (the 91st percentile) and its members possess a remarkable range of backgrounds and talents. New Faculty
Nancy Combs, who was appointed to the faculty in 2004 as an Assistant Professor, is now among us. She was first in her law school class at Berkeley and clerked for Justice Kennedy at the United States Supreme Court. Michael Green has been appointed Professor. He has a J.D. and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Yale, and clerked for Judge Richard Posner on the Seventh Circuit. He is now teaching law at George Mason University and will join us in January 2006. Laura Heymann has come to the Law School as an Assistant Professor. She has her J.D. from Yale and clerked for Judge Patricia Wald on the D.C. Circuit. She has been at George Washington University Law School as an Administrative Fellow in the Intellectual Property Program and a Visiting Associate Professor. 18th Annual Supreme Court Preview, September 23-24
Each year, the Institute of Bill of Rights Law brings together leading Supreme Court journalists, advocates and legal scholars for the Supreme Court Preview, an in-depth discussion and analysis of the Court's upcoming term. A talk at 3 p.m. on September 23 by New York Times Supreme Court correspondent Linda Greenhouse, author of Becoming Justice Blackmun: Harry Blackmun's Supreme Court Journey, is one of the highlight of this years gathering. Registration is $100 before Sept. 8 and $110 thereafter; there is no fee to attend Ms. Greenhouses lecture. Up to 9 CLE credits are available for the Preview.
