Assistant Dean for Admission
William & Mary Law School

William & Mary Law School invites applications for an Assistant Dean for Admission.   The Law School admission program seeks to recruit talented and diverse members to the applicant pools and to the student body.  Reporting to the Associate Dean for Admission and Financial Aid, the Assistant Admission Deans help plan and execute creative and targeted admission strategies to recruit and matriculate high caliber and diverse students to William & Mary.  They oversee a variety of outreach, recruiting, admission and financial assistance tasks designed to meet program goals and objectives.  Responsibilities for this position include:

  • implementing recruitment programs and representing the Law School during law school fairs/forums, conducting outreach to PreLaw Advisors and diverse audiences during on- and off-campus events including information sessions and individual appointments to build a large and diverse applicant pool;
  • participating in counseling prospective applicants on the admission and financial aid processes;
  • working with students and organizations to coordinate and build involvement in the recruitment of applicants and enrollment of admits including management of phonathons and email outreach programs;
  • assisting with development of communication strategies and related implementation of media marketing/promotional initiatives including website enhancements/updates, print publications, letters, email campaign and submissions to external publications;
  • reviewing and evaluating applicant files and contributing to effective conversion/yield activities along with identification of scholarship candidates;
  • contributing to planning and implementation of programs and projects in collaboration with other offices and organizations at the College of William & Mary and with networks that extend beyond the College to meet Law School enrollment goals;
  • supporting overall admission activities and student services including special projects and assignments.

Candidates with a law degree, experience in higher education administration, admission or marketing with ability to interact effectively with colleagues and students are preferred. The successful candidate will understand and describe William & Mary’s strengths in the competitive arena of law school recruiting and will demonstrate an interest in proudly representing William & Mary Law School in all manner of public and internal forums. Bachelor’s degree required.  The work includes some evening and weekend commitments in addition to travel.
