The 53rd annual William & Mary Tax Conference will be held Thursday and Friday, November 8-9, 2007, at the Conference Center of the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. Titled “Tax Free Planning in a Taxable World,” the conference will include panel discussions on tax planning for the philanthropically minded business owner; opportunities and pitfalls under sections 351 and 721; grantor trusts revisited – a planning update; navigating uncharted waters: the new charitable entity legislation; preparing for tax litigation after FIN 48; primer on energy credits; recent developments in federal income tax; and creative instructions for the disposition of real estate including an update on section 1031 transactions.
Lunch each day will be accompanied by a panel discussion. On Thursday, the lunch panel discussion will be, “Washington Update,” while Friday will cover “Hot Topics in Virginia Taxation.”

The conference has applied for and expects to receive approval for 13 Continuing Legal Education credits from the Virginia and North Carolina state bars. In addition, the conference offers 15.6 Continuing Professional Education credits for the Virginia Board of Accountancy.
The conference costs $495 for regular registration and includes two boxed lunches and a detailed binder of outlines. Full-time faculty or government employees may register for $295 and student registration is $100.
