Interlibrary Loan: Services for Other Libraries

DIGITAL DOCUMENT DELIVERY

Marshall-Wythe Law Library offers document delivery services to members of the W&M community, other libraries, private individuals and commercial organizations. With rare exceptions, all photocopies are provided electronically – materials are scanned into pdf format. A link to the document is e-mailed to the recipient within 2 working days of the request, usually sooner. If a print copy is required, it will be shipped First Class mail.


Fee Schedule for Document Delivery

Marshall-Wythe Law Library has established the following document delivery fees:

WILLIAM & MARY FACULTY – NON-LAW

$1.00 per citation plus $0.10 per page from books or journals or $0.25 per page from microforms

CONSORTIUM LIBRARIES (VIVA, ASERL, COSELL, LVIS) AND OTHER RECIPROCAL LIBRARIES

No charge for photocopies

NON-CONSORTIUM LIBRARIES, COMMERCIAL ORGANIZATIONS (Law Firms, Corporations, Other For-Profit Entities) and PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS

$10.00 per citation plus $0.15 per page for books or journals or $0.30 per page from microforms





INTERLIBRARY LOAN

The preferred format for interlibrary loan requests is through OCLC. We also accept requests by mail, fax,e-mail or telephone from entities that are not OCLC members. Shipping is by Library Mail or UPS Ground. Materials are shipped within 2 working days, usually sooner.

MATERIALS THAT MARSHALL-WYTHE LAW LIBRARY WILL LOAN TO ALL LIBRARIES:

1. Microforms
2. Audiotapes
3. Videotapes
4. Virginia Records and Briefs
5. Circulating treatises of 1 or 2 volumes
6. Looseleaf treatises of 1 or 2 volumes (circulating volumes only)
7. Subject DVDs (with call numbers)
8. One or two volumes of a circulating set

MATERIALS THAT MARSHALL-WYTHE LAW LIBRARY DOES NOT LOAN:

1. Popular DVDs
2. Multi-volume sets (3 or more volumes)
3. Reference materials
4. Non-circulating materials
5. Computer software or books
6. Bound or unbound periodicals
7. Rare books
8. Materials in fragile condition

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. Reserve books – must be approved by Circulation Supervisor
2. Virginia University libraries may be allowed to borrow materials that normally do not circulate
3. Materials in faculty office collections – with permission of the faculty member

This policy applies to libraries with which we have no agreement. We charge what you charge or your maximum. We reserve the right to refuse loans to libraries that are non-providers. Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and the accompanying fees will be agreed upon prior to the loan being processed.
