Breaking it down:

A prefix s- is added to verbs to mean ‘with (a tool, the hand, etc.)’ or ‘holding (a book, coffee, etc.)’:

chokkool   he/she is sitting
schokkool   he/she is sitting with (something, as a child or book)
     
hatchaal   he/she is standing
shatchaal   he/she is standing holding (something)
     
chayaahl   he/she is walking
schayaahl   he/she is walking with (something)
     
bataapl  

he/she is hitting it

sbataapl   he/she is hitting it with (a stick, etc.)
     
bakoohl   he/she is throwing it
sbakoohl   he/she is throwing it with (something)
     
lataafk   he/she is kicking it
slataafk   he/she is kicking it with (new shoes, boots, etc.)
     
palaatk   he/she is getting upset
spalaatk   he/she is getting upset by (something), with (something)

Before a vowel, the prefix has the shape st-:

inchaal  

he/she is writing

stinchaal   he/she is writing with (a pencil, etc.)
     
iip   he/she is eating
stiip   he/she is eating one thing with (another, as a biscuit with jelly)
