Dr. De Groft received his undergraduate degree in Art History from The College of William and Mary, '88; an M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies with a specialty in contemporary American painting from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina; and as an Appleton Fellow received his Ph.D. in Art History from Florida State University with a specialty in European art from the 15th through the 19th centuries. Combining several talents, Gorman brings a three-fold perspective to museum education at the Muscarelle, with a balance of experience in the arts, museums and academics. Amy holds a Ph.D. in arts administration & museum education, an MFA in visual arts with an emphasis in digital imaging, photography and installation, with undergraduate degrees in studio arts and art history. Melissa holds both a B.A. and M.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in art history. She served as registrar for the Muscarelle in the mid-to-late 1990s before moving to England where she worked in the fine arts services industry. Upon her return to the States, she has worked for a major traveling exhibition firm in Washington, D.C. and at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as Associate Registrar for Exhibitions and Loans before re-joining the staff at the Muscarelle. Melissa is a member of the Registrars' Committee of the American Association of Museums and serves on their International Liaisons Task Force and on the Virginia Association of Museum's Emergency Response Team.

Gilliam recieved his B.A. from California State University, Long Beach. He has had a variety of museum experiences, including exhibition specialist ath The University of Arizona Museum of Art, where he spent sixteen years. In 2005, he began working as an art handler in Colonial Williamsburg, trading time between the museums and historic district. Gilliam joined the Muscarelle in 2008.
