Dr. Aaron H. De Groft is the Director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art (serving his fifth year) at the College of William & Mary, his undergraduate alma mater. De Groft was previously the Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Ringling Museum, one of the great Old Master painting collections in the United States. As an art historian, De Groft’s research and publications specialize in Renaissance and Baroque art and have focused on works by Michelangelo, Titian, Rubens, Velázquez, Caravaggio, and the history of collecting Old Master paintings during the Gilded Age in America.Read More...

Combining several talents, Gorman brings a three-fold perspective to museum education at the Muscarelle, with a balance of experience in the arts, museums and academics. Gorman holds a Ph.D. in arts administration & museum education, an MFA in visual arts with an emphasis in digital imaging, photography and installation, with undergraduate degrees in studio arts and art history. Christina Carroll received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude with Government honors from The College of William & Mary in 2005, and her law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at The College of William & Mary in 2010. During her tenure as a student at The College she received several awards for her leadership and community service including the highest leadership award given to William & Mary students, the Benjamin Stoddert Ewell Award for outstanding participation and leadership in campus and community activities and for service and contributions to William & Mary. Melissa holds both a B.A. and M.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in art history. She served as registrar for the Muscarelle in the mid-to-late 1990s before moving to England where she worked in the fine arts services industry. Upon her return to the States, she has worked for a major traveling exhibition firm in Washington, D.C. and at The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as Associate Registrar for Exhibitions and Loans before re-joining the staff at the Muscarelle. Melissa is a member of the Registrars' Committee of the American Association of Museums and serves on their International Liaisons Task Force and on the Virginia Association of Museum's Emergency Response Team.

Gilliam recieved his B.A. from California State University, Long Beach. He has had a variety of museum experiences, including exhibition specialist at The University of Arizona Museum of Art, where he spent sixteen years. In 2005, he began working as an art handler in Colonial Williamsburg, trading time between the museums and historic district. Gilliam joined the Muscarelle in 2008.
