HOW TO DONATE OBJECTS & WORKS OF ART

The Muscarelle is a collecting institution, and as a university museum, we have a diverse collection to meet the needs of The College and community. You can view works in the collections by looking at our collection highlights online. There are also some Frequently Asked Questions that will answer many questions about what we collect and why.

The first step is to write a letter of inquiry to the Director, who is responsible for new acquisitions. Please include in your correspondence as much factual information about the artist and origin, an image and any history you know about the piece, including how you acquired it. After your initial inquiry is received, Dr. De Groft will follow up with you.

For further information about donations of art or acquisitions please contact Director, Aaron De Groft, Ph.D. at adegroft@wm.edu or 757.221.2701.

While we do love to look at art, we do not offer any appraisal services. If you are looking for a professional appraisal please refer to any of the reputable appraisal organizations. The Museum does not endorse any appraiser but the following organizations will lead you in the right direction to find an appraiser to meet your needs.
