What does MUSE stand for?
MUSE is the acronym for the Museum-University Student Exchange, a partnership between students and the Muscarelle Museum of Art.
What does MUSE do?
MUSE provides volunteer help for events at the Muscarelle Museum of Art, such as opening receptions, the annual Winter Tea, and the Holiday Open House. MUSE additionally plans and holds two annual events – the Homecoming Open House for alumni and current students, and Art on the Lawn, a spring celebration which brings together community members and students. MUSE also tours local exhibitions and museums. They are always looking for new suggestions for activities, like the recent Melodies & Mocktails, an a capella concert in the galleries.
What can I do for MUSE?
Besides volunteering and attending Museum events, members are needed to bring ideas and suggestions for new events and activities. MUSE members work closely with professional staff of the Museum to develop new and exciting ways to bring students into the Muscarelle Museum.
What can MUSE do for me?
Besides providing opportunities to make friends with other students, MUSE members work with Museum staff and adult volunteers. Members know about all Museum events, (most of which are free, offer complimentary refreshments, and are a great chance to socialize and learn about art) and are a vital part of the Museum. MUSE membership often leads to a position as a student volunteer or intern at the Muscarelle!
Do I have to be an Art/Art History major to join MUSE?
Anyone who is interested in art or museums, or becoming part of a growing and dynamic volunteer organization is a great candidate for MUSE. Members come from a variety of disciplines, including biology, history, English, and business.
