| General Information |
-
The William & Mary Women's Chorus (WMWC) was founded in 1923
-
The ensemble consists of approximately 50 undergraduate women, both non-music majors and music majors
-
We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30
-
Auditions are held every fall (although transfer and exchange students can audition in the spring)
-
It is a year-long academic course yielding one credit hour per semester; it is also a recognized student organization
-
The chorus sings four to five concerts in the fall semester and five to seven in the spring
-
Every semester the group sings for a Candlelight Concert at the historic Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg
-
Each semester ends with a choral concert at Phi Beta Kappa Hall, which features the entire choral department; The Women's Chorus, The Choir, and The Botetourt Chamber Singers
-
The chorus travels during the spring, on a four day tour; in 2009, tour took us to Savannah, Greensboro, Ashville, & Richmond
