Alum in 'Jeopardy!' Tournament of Champions
Coutesy of "Jeopardy!"
Jeffrey Spoeri (’87) won more than $100,000 in a week-long run on the popular "Jeopardy!" game show in the fall of last year. This week, Spoeri will be back on Jeopardy! competing for the title of Champion of Champions. He begins his run for the title Wednesday, Nov. 7. (Check your local cable provider for channel and time of airing.)
Last year’s big payoff was thanks in part to his ‘ol alma mater – one of the questions that led him to victory was about the honor fraternity Phi Beta Kappa being founded here in 1776. Ultimately, his performance landed him in the show’s Hall of Fame, where he currently ranks 18th overall among winners of more than $50,000.
The Tournament of Champions features 15 former "Jeopardy!" winners vying for a $250,000 grand prize over a two-week period. Already under way, this year’s tournament will conclude Nov. 16.
Spoeri, who received his undergraduate degree from William and Mary, also has a master’s degree in education from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He currently serves as Director of Development for the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science at Florida Atlantic University and later this month will be moving on to a new position with Florida State University as Regional Director of Development.
