Professionals and Professional Faculty Assembly

There are currently about 460 College of William and Mary employees designated as Professionals or Professional Faculty (PPF), generally requiring an advanced degree or equivalent specialized training and experience.*    Professionals and professional faculty have unique policies and procedures, especially in personnel areas, that are different from those of instructional faculty and operational and hourly staff.

A 21-member elected PPF Assembly represents PPFs.  Please see the menu items to the left for a list of Assembly members, meeting minutes, etc.

UPDATES as of 6/9/2009:

W&M Professionals and Professional Faculty,

Here’s some recent news about the Professionals and Professional Faculty Assembly (PPFA):

1.  Goals & Objectives:  the 21-member PPFA is polishing its goals and objectives for FY2009 and FY2010.  We want your input!  Please click on the Goals link on the menu (left side of screen) and respond by June 11 (date extended).  The PPFA will finalize the goals at its June 12 meeting.

2.  Next PPFA Meeting:  President Taylor Reveley and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives Jim Golden will be guests at our Friday, June 12, meeting (8:30-10:00am, Board of Visitors Board Room, Blow Hall).  These meetings are open to the public.

3. President Reveley:  the PPFA's Executive Committee met with President Taylor Reveley on May 22 to discuss the PPFA's current projects and proposed goals.

4.  Minutes:  to learn more about the PPFA’s activities, please visit the PPFA webpage (http://web.wm.edu/proffaculty) and click on the Minutes & Agendas link.  Minutes are posted after they are approved at the following meeting.

5.  PPF Handbook:  the PPFA’s PPF Handbook Committee, charged with pulling together all the policies that apply to W&M’s professionals and professional faculty, has completed the first stage of its project:  identifying all the existing and anticipated policies and submitting that draft list to the Provost for his review.   The next stage is producing a package of all of those policies and posting it to the web – we hope by August 1!  This committee has done an excellent job in a short time, so please thank them!  Here’s a list:  Lisa Grimes, chair, Charles Center; Dot Osborne, School of Education and chair of the PPFA’s Policies & Administrative Issues Committee; Wayne Boy, Facilities; Kiersten Boyce, Legal Affairs;  Steve Cole, Athletics;  Elaine McBeth, Public Policy;  Lynn Riggs, Human Resources;  Wendy Webb-Robers, Career Center.
