Current Research Projects
The following are studies which we are currently running at the William and Mary Child Research Center.  Your child may be eligible for one or more studies based on the listed age ranges.  If you have further questions about these studies, please contact a member of the research team at (757) 941-5984.

Handles Study
For Infants 5 - 11 months old
In this study, your child will sit in your lap while he/she is presented with a series of brightly colored blocks.  The blocks will vary in orientation, size and shape.  Your child will have an opportunity to reach out and play with these blocks.  This study aims to explore the reaching and grasping motions associated with different types of objects.

Infant Pre-Reaching
For Children 2 - 5 months old
In this study, your child will wear a special set of infant mittens that help him or her to grasp certain toys. We are interested in how well pre-reaching infants can manipulate objects using this system.

Infant Pre-Locomotion
For Children 3 - 7 months old
We are developing a system that will enable pre-crawling infants to move around the room (... very slow movement). We are interested in how well pre-crawling infants can control independent locomotion.

Disc Judging Study
For Kids 4 - 10 years old
In this study, your child will be asked to identify the sizes of various discs presented in varying ways.  We will ask your child in several different ways to identify which disc he/she believes is the largest.  This study aims to find out what perceptual cues are necessary to discern the size of an object.
