Boren Scholarships fund undergraduate study abroad, and language study specifically, in countries traditionally underrepresented in study abroad. If you're looking for funding to study abroad between summer 2010 and summer 2011 in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East, the Boren Scholarship might be for you!

NOTE: Students in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and math) are eligible to apply for a Boren Scholarship for summer-only study as long as the program lasts a minimum of 8 weeks. Applicants in non-STEM fields must be studying abroad at least one semester.
NOTE: Students planning to graduate in May 2010 are eligible to apply if they defer graduation until after the period of study abroad.
NOTE: Students who receive funding from Boren must fulfill a service requirement by working for the federal government for one year. See details on this at
