CHIP

Hello and welcome back to our coverage live here on the campus of the College of William & Mary.  We’re at the Alco Bowl, profiling some important strategies of low-risk drinking.

RUSTY

Chip if I could just take a second to ask you, just what are the judges going to be looking for?

CHIP

Well, most important is going to be the successful execution of planned strategies.  If someone makes a plan to only have two drinks, they gotta stick with that, they gotta stick to their guns, that’s gonna go a long way.  Also with that, is the combination of low-risk drinking strategies, to work with one or more to bring them together, that fusion is really gonna help them further down the way.  Well, hopefully, our first contestant will show us a good clutch performance.  Let’s take a look at them right now.  Alright, our first contestant is well on her way.

Alright, our first contestant is well on our way, she’s suggested a proven strategy for low-risk drinking and that’s going to be eating.  That’s one of the best ones to use, very crucial.  More over she’s working this in, with sticking to two drinks.  No more, possibly no less.  Here we have a game, these can often really get people in trouble, but she’s combing her pledge to only have two drinks, and she’s not participating in the game.  So she has her drinks, but then alternates with water, that’s going to be crucial for the next day, just really wonderful work.  Let’s take a look at what the judges think.

Strong performance by contestant number one, that’s going to take her far into the standings.

I had a chance to talk with this contestant during practice and she told me then, that she was planning on just not drinking at all tonight, but as we’re seeing here now, Jonathan is asking if just perhaps she’d like to join in on a beer or two.

Oops, looks like she’s giving into peer pressure, not part of her original strategy, that.  Ah now here’s a nice tactic that I see, she’s using that bottle cap in an attempt to keep track of just how much she drinks.

Wow, shot glassed don’t have bottle caps.  It looks like she’s losing track, she’s not sticking to her game plan and that can only lead to disaster, see here, she can’t even remember how many drinks she had.  Checking those bottle caps is not going to help out either.  This is not such a great performance, let’s see what the judges think.

Ultimately that pressure, that I talked about at the beginning, it got to her.

CHIP

Well, let’s see if Contestant number three is able to overcome any pressures and give us a good performance.  It looks like we have Louis here on a date with his friend Deirdre and they’re at a party.  Being always the gentleman, he’s looking out for himself as well as his date, watching both of their drinks.  And, he’s noticing the time [bell dings] in which he’s consuming these drinks.  It looks like he’s starting to get a little worried, and with due reason.  She’s starting to look pretty intoxicated.

Here we have a great play, [bell dings] switching out her drink with water and putting down his own drink so he can concentrate on her.

And here we have Louis walking her home, the appropriate thing to do, and even though she’s trying to invite him in, he knows that it’s not the right time [bell dings] and he says good night.

Let’s see if the judges give him some points for that.  You know, some moves just shouldn’t be attempted when one or more person is under the influence.  Once again, a really impressive performance by Louis.

RUSTY

Well, let’s check out the current standings.

CHIP

Well, no matter what those standings say, anyone who uses low-risk strategies when drinking is a champion in my book.  For Rusty, I’m Chip, thanks for watching the Alco-Bowl, we’ll see ya later.
