CHIP
Welcome back to the studio, I’m Chip McCracken here with Rusty Williams and we’re about to throw down to see two of our favorite all-stars, Andrew and Sharuq, at work at a party.
[Music Plays]
ANDREW
Sharuq what’s up.
SHARUQ
Oh, hey Andrew, it’s so good to see you, aw thanks, good to see you.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
The weekend has arrived.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
Man, Sharuq looks great.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
Cheers!
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
Woo! This is great.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
This is horrible. I just need to dance, get my groove on.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
Go ahead, shake it out.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
Oh, Olivia talking to what’s his name tonight.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
Dan’s getting a lot closer than he wanted to tonight.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
Oh gosh, should I step in, I don’t want to embarrass myself. She might get angry.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
Maybe this isn’t a problem, Dan’s other friends aren’t stepping in.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
I’m pretty sure I know what to do.
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
This is my responsibility and I do need to step in.
SHARUQ’s THOUGHTS
Andrew’s mind, do you see this?
ANDREW’S THOUGHTS
Yes, Ruk’s mind, we should do something.
SHARUQ
You know, that’s my girlfriend Olivia over there.
ANDREW
Yeah, and that’s my boy Dan.
SHARUQ
And it looks like, normally she wouldn’t…
ANDREW
Neither would Dan,
SHARUQ
So we should probably just,
ANDREW
Go over there?
SHARUQ
Yeah.
ANDREW
Yeah, that’s cool.
SHARUQ
Hey, Olivia, what’s up girlfriend?
ANDREW
Yo, Dan, hey, bud, what’s going on.
DAN
What’s up man?
SHARUQ
You look like you had a little too much to drink, just a little bit, let’s have some water. [bell dings]
OLIVIA
Ok.
DAN
Man, what are you doing? I almost had her.
ANDREW
Yeah, she’s pretty cool, right.
DAN
Yeah, I know, I almost had her to my room, man, why’d you pull me over here.
ANDREW
Cause, remember, we talked about it earlier tonight, you didn’t want to go that far.
DAN
What?
ANDREW
You just wanted to come in, and be smooth, and say ‘hey’, and get out.
DAN
I know, I know, I know, right, but did you see that girl.
ANDREW
Yeah, she’s awesome, listen, I got her number for you right, you’ll call her in the morning, it’ll be awesome, it’s the first step.
DAN
You’re right man, you’re right.
[Guys reassuring each other]
DAN
You’re my bro dude, let’s go.
[bell dings]
ANDREW
Yeah, let’s go.
RUSTY
Andrew if you don’t mind, I’d like to present you this honorary plaque on behalf of the studio for your outstanding work on the dance floor tonight. Tell me, when you saw something, maybe questionable going on between Olivia and your friend Dan, what was going through your head when you responded.
ANDREW
Well, I saw what was going on and I thought about it, and then I realized that it was my responsibility to step in and diffuse the situation before it kind of got out of hand or went a place that it shouldn’t, and I think that what I did was something that any member of the Tribe would have done that night.
CHIP
Sharuq, tell us, what were you thinking, I mean you were out there, it looked like things were getting out of control, [school bell rings]what kind of helped you get involved, what did you do?
SHARUQ
Well, um, I knew that basically I had to just step in and go for it, and um, I had that initial hesitation, I didn’t want to make a fool of myself, but the thought is, wouldn’t it better for me to be embarrassed than something bad to happen to my friend. Cause, well we all know that there’s no I in team, and I was just team playing there, going in and doing what I had to do. It’s the team idea, it’s not just within my circle of friends, it’s within this entire community as a whole, on William and Mary, so I just did what I had to do.
CHIP
Oh, absolutely, it was an inspirational performance, something that we can look back at for years to come. No keep that shiny, that’s going up on the shelf.
Well, once again we’d like to thank Sharuq and Andrew for their performances, we’ll be looking at them for years to come, I’m sure. Rusty and I’ll take you away in just a moment.
FINAL SCENE
CHIP
It’s been a pleasure having you folks with us, we hope you’ve learned something. On behalf of Rusty, I’m Chip, thanks for watching.
