List of ASAP Organizations

AVALON: The student members of AVALON act as liaisons to the College community by advocating the variety of services available at AVALON and promoting sexual assault awareness through community education. The goal of this organization is to reduce the incidence of domestic violence and sexual assault and provide shelter, support and advocacy to victims and survivors.

Council for Fraternity Affairs (CFA): Consistent with their core purpose of building a stronger Greek Community by fostering a positive image, CFA works with other ASAP organizations, including 1in4, to educate fraternity members on the issues surrounding sexual assault. They have most recently joined forces with ISC to expand "Steer Clear."

Every Two Minutes: Every 2 Minutes is a sexual assault peer education group composed of campus women. The goal of Every Two Minutes is to educate women about sexual assault by focusing on how women can help a friend who is recovering from sexual assault and emphasizing that a woman is never at blame for being sexually assaulted.

Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA): FMLA promotes sexual assault awareness through its annual "Take Back the Night" event and various other events for Sexual Assault Awareness Week. In addition, FMLA advocates sexual assault activism by promoting a positive female image, empowerment and self confidence.

Health Outreach Peer Educators (HOPE): HOPE educates the college community through their sexual assault peer education program called "Speak Out". This program is made specifically for upperclassmen women and discusses such issues as helping a survivor and reducing the risk of being sexually assaulted.

Inter-Sorority Council (ISC): ISC offers the College community two programs to fight sexual assault. The "Whistle-Stop" Campaign distributes whistles to students as an attention getting device to stop an assault. In addition, ISC also offers "Steer Clear" which provides students a safe ride home on Friday and Saturday nights. ISC also promotes sexual assault education and advocacy by sponsoring various programs for Greek women throughout the year.

One in Four: 1 in 4 is an all male sexual assault peer education group that educates college men through their program "How to Help a Sexual Assault Survivor- What Men Can Do". This program offers men a unique insight into sexual assault and how to help a survivor.

Student Assembly: The Student Assembly helps coordinate student organizations that promote sexual assault awareness as a member of the Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention and the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Education. In addition, Student Assembly sponsors educational speakers and works to promote general campus safety.

Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX): VOX educates the campus community on various options available to survivors of sexual assault. VOX holds an Emergency Contraception Drive every fall which provides emergency contraception, safely and inexpensively to members of the College community.

Lambda Alliance: This organization serves the needs of the College's GLBTQ population. In addition to weekly meetings where discussions on a variety of issues revelant to gay students occur, Lambda Alliance also sponsor National Coming Out Day, Day of Silence, and the ever-popular and ever-fabulous Drag Ball.
