Dominican Republic Service Trip
Every two years, Canterbury travels abroad to take part in a service trip. In the past we have gone to the town of Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic to work at el Campamento Monte de la Transfiguracion.
While there, we work at the camp on building a school and chapel for the local community. In 2007, the chapel and 2 classrooms were finished, and we
painted and prepped several more.

We returned to the camp in the DR in March of 2009 with 25 people. There we saw the classrooms that we had worked on 2 years before. There were about 8 finished classrooms and 30 students through the 3rd grade. The money raised at the 2009 DR gala was about $6,000 and will be used towards scholarships for this school. This will assist them in reaching there goal to add two grades next year. While were were there, we spruced up the several buildings within the camp, planted a garden by the school, repainted the basketball court, benches, walkways, gates, and other such assorted tasks.

Belize Service Trip
This past Spring Break 2011, we took 20 people to San Pedro, Belize to work at Holy Cross Anglican School, the only school that serves the high risk community of San Mateo. By selling concessions at Grand Illuminations and hosting our annual black tie gala, we were able to raise $10,000 to donate to the school's feeding programs, which provides a hot meal for the students every day. While in Belize, we helped in the construction of a community home, aided teachers in the classroom, patched up holes around the school, and assisted in building a water garden for the plumbing system, which will allow the school to save $1,000 every month on water.
