The College of William and Mary's
Ninth Annual Graduate Research Symposium

2010 GRS Abstract Submission Form

First Call for Abstracts: October 5, 2009

Abstract Deadline: 11:59 pm E.S.T. on December 4, 2009

Abstract Preparation Guidelines

  1. The abstract should include the specific question your research addresses, research design and methods, major results (or anticipated results), and possible implications of your findings.
  2. It is the responsibility of the presenter to obtain permission from all co-authors prior to abstract submission.
  3. The goal of the Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) is to present research to educated people in many fields of study. Your abstract will be read by a multi-disciplinary audience and should avoid or explain any technical terms. The presentation itself may be geared to a more discipline specific audience.

Review Process

Abstracts will be competitively reviewed by the GRS organizing committee. Abstracts over 1,700 characters including spaces (approximately 250 words) or submitted after the deadline will NOT be acknowledged or considered.

Abstracts will be sent to your advisor's e-mail address that you provide to be reviewed for these guidelines by January 11, 2010. Your advisor must reply to this e-mail after reviewing your abstract with a "YES" to confirm that it meets the guidelines above. Alternatively, your advisor can request that you modify your abstract so that it more clearly meets these guidelines, which you can do via this form.

Graduate students will be notified of their abstract acceptance/rejection in January 2010. Students from institutions other than the College of William & Mary will be required to submit a $60 registration fee that grants attendance for the presenter to all GRS presentations, any featured lectures, the refreshments on Friday and Saturday morning, the Friday lunch, the Friday evening reception, and the awards luncheon on Saturday. A guest/spouse fee of $30 is required for non-presenters from outside institutions for admittance to meal functions only (i.e., admittance to all presentations is free) .
