Tales From the Thrift Chair

Hello there! Welcome to the second Web edition of jump! Magazine. This issue is a little bit more complex than the first, and this happened for two reasons. First of all, there was a little bit more to work with. The articles were great and were in an easier form to work with than the first issue. Also, there were a lot more pictures to use-- something like twice the amount in the first issue. Secondly, I got a chance to work on this issue over winter break, which not only gave me plenty of time, but gave me an opportunity to break in my new PowerMac.

This issue was not without its setbacks, however, most notably our Editor-in-Chief, Mathew Divaris. He managed to completely erase all of the HTML conversion I had accomplished right before break. Until then, almost all of the text had been converted and we were just waiting on graphics. But with a single mouse stroke all was lost....It also became a struggle to see if we could get a link added from our UNIX account to the server tree. Mr. Scott Hayes from the College of William and Mary was very supportive of the effort, and his time is much appreciated.

Which brings me to my next point. jump! Magazine is published and distributed locally, but if any netreaders out there would like a hardcopy, I think there is a subscription service of some sort. If you are interested, drop us a line at the jump! office.

If you have any questions or problems with HTML editing and would like a piece of my very little brain, please visit my Webpage, or click on the cute litle claw at the bottom right of this document.

Happy reading!

Blair Reyburn
