This is the food lover's season of greatest content--a time of passionately
unbridled eating on long, cold evenings. In due reverence to this important time, I have
dispensed with the U.C. aspect of my column and gotten down to some serious cooking.
The following is a menu of classically comforting food, relatively easy to make and so
good for the soul. These dishes may be integrated into a traditional winter meal, or made
by themselves as variations from the turkey-and-ham theme so typical of this
season.
