Welcome to the LSA at the College of William and Mary!

The LSA is a dynamic group of college students who love fun, food, and God, to name a few things. If you are interested in seeing what we're like, we'd love to see you! Check out the calendar to find out what's going on right now with the LSA! Also, feel free to email the LSA officers (see bottom of page) if you have any questions about the group's meeting times or questions about the group in general.
Few things in life are certain....but one thing that is for sure: If you come to LSA, you WILL have a good time! But don't take my word for it. See what others have to say about the hippest bunch of crazy cats on campus!

| As a college
freshman, the task of finding my own niche in the vast
amount of people and places at William and Mary was an
overwhelming prospect. Thankfully, I had gotten a
letter from an LSA member and got up the nerve to go to
the first meeting. When I arrived at the College
Room at St. Stephen's, I expected a room full of
strangers, but instead found a room full of
friends. LSA welcomed me immediately, and I knew I
had found an important part of my college life. I
guess the best way to put it, is to say that: LSA is... A comfort. When the world (i.e. Organic Chemistry, English essays, billion page term papers...) has me down, they lift me back up. A place of rest. Besides having comfy couches that allow me to sink into sleep, the LSA College Room is a haven where stress is not allowed. A homecooked meal. Sometimes you just need a kitchen filled with the smell of cooking, a table shared with friends (and not the entire campus), and the wonderful taste of a Sunday evening meal. An adventure. Putt-Putt, Dairy Queen (over an hour away!), Secret Santa, Lock-in's, BBQ's, Beach Week,...the list never ends! A house of worship. My faith in God is strengthened as I watch those around me act out my beliefs. A family. They not only accept me for who I am, but love me for it. My home away
from home. It is a place where I am comfortable with
myself, with those around me, and with my God. |

| When I came to
William and Mary as a freshman I did not have a strong
religious affiliation. Throughout my life I had always
attended church, and been involved in youth groups, but
never really had a church home. However, I knew that I
wanted involvement in a Christian group to be a part of
my college experience. I visited several of the Christian
groups on campus, and found most of them to be fun, but
not exactly what I was looking for. Many of them had a
very large attendance making it hard to connect with the
group. My boyfriend was Lutheran and he took me with him to the LSA welcome brunch. I knew right away that I really liked it a lot! The group is small, which was very important to me. I really feel like I connect with everyone in the group and we are like family. For me the LSA provided the kind of Christian fellowship that I was looking for. I have also
found what I consider to be my first real church home.
The people of St. Stephen are so nice and do so much for
the LSA. I got a baby-sitting job for some church
members, and my adopt-a-parents are great. This spring I
became an associate member of the church, and secretary
of the LSA. For me St. Stephen and the LSA play a major
role in my college experience, and I am very glad I
became involved. |

| As
a freshman, I wanted to try everything and do everything,
but quickly found out that I had neither the time, nor
the energy! As a lifetime Lutheran, active in my youth
group at home, I thought I might give the LSA a try after
receiving a letter from them over the summer. That turned
out to be a great decision! The LSA has been a great escape from the stresses of college life. It's a place I can come to relax, laugh, and, often enough, just hang out. Of course, I shouldn't sell short the home-cooked meals that it often provides, not to mention the nice comfy couches in the college room which are PERFECT for crashing on during finals week. With it's close ties to St. Stephen Lutheran Church, I also feel like I have a church family while I'm away from home. There, I'm able to make a connection with people in the Williamsburg community, not just people at the College. That in itself is a great aspect of LSA. LSA has given
me many wonderful friendships and countless memories that
won't soon be forgotten. Whether I've needed
entertainment, a spiritual "boost", food,
sleep, encouragement, or just a laugh, LSA has always
been able to provide! |
The LSA meets in the College Room of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, VA. The church is located at 612 Jamestown Road, across the street from Pi Beta Kappa Hall and the Muscarelle Museum. Weekly meetings are Wednesdays at 9pm and Sundays at 5pm.
