W&M Collegiate Mock Trial Team

The W&M Mock Trial Team was founded in 2000 by 3 pre-law students:                   

Travis Owens, Brian Cannon, and Steven Mutnick. 

The team was first coached by Virginia L. Vile, Attorney at Law. 

William and Mary Mock Trial expresses their sincerest gratitude for their continued dedication and generous support to the team.

Team History

  • In 2002, the team received a bid to Silver Nationals.
  • In 2003, the team received a bid to Bronze Nationals.
  • In 2004, the team placed 4th and received a bid to Silver Nationals, where they finished 11th nationally giving winning a Honorable Mention.  Also, 4 members won individual awards, 3 as lawyers, and 1 as a witness.
  • In 2005, the team was one of the top 3 teams at regionals, winning a Outstanding Trial Team Award as well as 1 attorney and 2 witness awards.In addition, the team  received a bid to the National Championship Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.  In the fall of 2005, the team did extremely well at MTSU,winning 2 attorney and 2 witness awards. 
  •  In 2006, the team went to the 2nd Annual Richmond Spider Invitational, winning 2 witness awards, one of which was earned with a score of 20 on both Defense and Plaintiff.
  • In 2007, the team went to regionals, winning an attorney award and a witness award.
