Audition Information

Membership in the Williams & Mary Symphony Orchestra is open by audition to all members of the William & Mary community. All new and returning members are required to audition.

Sign-up sheets will be available on the Orchestra Board next to Ewell Room 207 starting Friday, August 19.

Auditions will be held in the Ewell Recital Hall.

Each audition will last no more than 10 minutes and consist of:

• Two contrasting selections of your choice from solo (sonata, concerto, etude, etc.) and/or ensemble repertoire, totaling five minutes or less.
  

  NEW OPTION: You may substitute your second selection with the orchestral excerpts (see PDFs on left) selected from definite and/or potential repertoire for the '11-'12 season. If your instrument is given excerpts from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and/or J. Strauss, Jr.'s Die Fledermaus Overture, these excerpts are highly recommended since they will be performed in the earlier part of the season.

• One short excerpt on an auxiliary instrument if there is no excerpts for it posted below (e.g., English horn, bass/E-flat clarinet, mallet percussion, piano, harp).
• One short sightreading excerpt (provided at the time of audition)
