Dr. Shirin Ebadi will be giving a speech titled "Islam, Human Rights, and Democracy" at 4 p.m. in PBK Hall.
Shirin Ebadi, lawyer and recipient
of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, is one of the best-known defenders of
democracy and human rights in the world today. She was the first female
judge in Iran, and founded the Association for the Support of Children’s
Rights in Iran.
