This past fall we organized the first ever and hopefully first annual William and Mary Fall Fest. The idea started last summer when I heard about a grass-roots charity movement in Liberia to build a clinic there. The idea evolved when I realized that what this campus really needs is a yearly music festival that can be the best time of the year, but also do the most good. 100% for charity, William and Mary Fall Fest offers the students the amazing atmosphere of a benefit concert, and could potentially raise $60,000 in a single weekend (enough to build a clinic that will stand for years saving many lives a day). This feeling of empowerment will stay with the WM community long after the event is over. The hope is that Fall Fest will bring in students from other schools, and with a pending radio endorsement and support from newspapers/tv stations, the goal isn’t far from reach. We want this to become a part of the college and its traditions, perhaps even evolve into a 3 day event in the near future, but it won't happen if this year isn't incredible. Eventually the charity benefited will rotate as well, we can aid different regions all around the globe, but for Fall Fest 08 we want to again target medical catastrophes in Africa. Help us build this clinic!
