W&M UNICEF Constitution

 

William and Mary Campus Initiative for UNICEF

 

 

I. Title

This organization will be known as “William & Mary UNICEF” and is officially affiliated with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

 

II. Purpose

To raise money and awareness for the United Nations Children’s Fund by incorporating local schools and educating the community.

 

III. Membership

William & Mary UNICEF is open to all members of the William & Mary college community.

 

IV. Officers

  • President – oversees all actions, attends all events, helps coordinate between multiple committee chairs, organizes and runs meetings.
  • Vice President of Fundraising – plans and coordinates activities for the purpose of UNICEF fundraising on campus and in the community. Has all financial responsibilities but must get transactions approved by president.
  • Editorial Vice President – makes community and campus aware of UNICEF actions and William & Mary UNICEF activities. Maintains website, emails members and college community, and is in touch with campus outreach people at the U.S. Fund office.
  • Vice President of School Outreach – establishes a strong connection with several local schools, K-12, for education purposes and coordinates with fundraising VP for school events.

 

V. Elections

  • All four officers are elected by a simple majority by attendees of the election meeting. Voting will be done by secret ballot.
  • Elections will be held at the end of the spring semester and all terms last one school year.
  • If a Vice-president does not fulfill his/her obligations the president will appoint a replacement. If the president cannot meet his/her duties, the 3 vice-presidents will together decide the replacement.
  • 2/3 of members attending the meeting must vote to remove an elected officer from his/her position.

 

VI. Meetings

The president decides when and where meetings are held. Meetings should be no less frequent than once a month but any officer may call a meeting when they feel necessary. The first meeting will be held no later than 4 weeks into the semester.

 

VII. Dues

Dues will be $5 a member per semester. This can be changed by the officers with a ¾ agreement depending on activities and outside funding. The Vice-President of Fundraising is responsible for collecting dues and managing the club’s financial account.

 

VIII. Amendments

Amendments to this constitution, with the exception of those under the Dues section, can be made with a ¾ majority by organization members. Issues will be raised to the president at least one meeting before voting takes place, otherwise it is to the officers’ discretion whether or not it is on the ballot. Constitutional issues will be voted on secret ballot yearly along with officer elections.
