All submissions may be mailed in hard copy to CSU 6093 or e-mailed to winged.nation@gmail.com. Please include the title of your piece and your name as you would
wish it to appear in the byline of our magazine. Art submissions should also identify the media used to create the piece.
Submissions to Winged Nation are open to the entire student body of the College of William and Mary.
These submissions are evaluated in three main categories: art, poetry, and prose.
Art consists of creative student work that is not in a written format.
This spectrum includes, but is not limited to, photography, oils, acrylics, gouache, newspaper, sculptures
(clay, papier-mâché, etc...), musical compositions, graphite, collages, and graphic art. Musical compositions,
if chosen, will be displayed in the magazine as an art piece and the audio portion, if provided by the composer,
will be made available here on the website as a podcast. Any art submissions made in digital format must have a
resolution of at least 300dpi with a minimum dimension of 4 inches. We are happy to help you scan or photograph your
artwork in the Publications Lab—just send us an e-mail!
Poetry and Prose. All written pieces must be a maximum of four pages double-spaced in 12pt
Arial font. The margins will be 1.25 inch on the left and right and 1 inch on the top and bottom. If a piece is submitted
beyond the length of these specifications, Winged Nation reserves the right to not consider the piece for publication.
Whenever possible, we prefer that written submissions be submitted electronically. Also, please be aware that due to
space considerations and formatting standards, your piece may not be published in its original typeface or paragraph
formatting.
There is no official limit to the number of submissions you can put forward, but on average we receive 3-5 submissions per person.
