WMAS Newsletter #18
"I don't really think I
deserve this much attention considering that I've been getting
your gender confused all evening."- Mike Canada
(only slightly out of context)
In local news, after much trial and hardship, the Anime Club
was successful in not being able to operate the projector screen
in Washington 201. This lead to an expedition to room 201
in James Blair where we were able to successfully watch Tenchi-Muyo,
Escaflowne, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. For all
those who remembered we had a meeting, thank you for
coming.
And now Rob for news about Katsucon: We travelled for two
hours at speeds of about 85 mph through pouring rain to reach
Aaron's house, the first stop in our perilous journey. Our
second stop was Zack's house, a nice ten minute walk from the
Con. Being that it was raining, we all poured into one car
which promptly blew out a tire mere yards away from the Hyatt
Regency, where the Con was being held.
After much effort and adventure, we finally managed to enter
Katsucon 5. Here we were dazzled by the sights and sounds
of three video rooms, a game room, the dealer's room, karaoke,
and people in frighteningly authentic-looking costumes.
What worried me about the last point was that this was a
three-day con and some people seemed to keep their costumes on
for the entire event. One can only hope that they used the
appropriate amounts of Dial. A special note should be made
of the number of people of both sexes dressed as Sailor
Moon or one of her colleagues.
Quasi-Trivia Questions:
Last Week's Answers
Easy Question: Ryo-oh-ki. One must appreciate a
creature that keeps a certain part of its anatomy covered by a
cute, puffy tail.
Hard question: Ranma 1/2. I recently checked a
fan-fiction archive to find that there were ten times as many Ranma
1/2 stories than for other series. The same held true
for their lemon/hentai section.
This Week's Questions:
Easy Question: Less mentally stable: Dilandau from Escaflowne
or Jinnai from El Hazard!
Hard Question: What is one thing that all three officers have
in their pockets?
(I assume you have all read The Hobbit by now.)
Anime Deathmatch Weekly:
Have you seen these people:
Godzilla, Chibi Usa, Miyu, Naga, Rockman, Astroboy, Cutey
Honey,Armitage, Lina, Dark Schneider, Galus, Kusanagi, Mihoshi,
Nene, Quincy, Ajo, Rei, or Ruri.
If so, please send links to pictures or movies of them to

In particular, we'd like pictures of Godzilla and Chibi Usa.
Web Sites of the Week:
http://psy-s.cjas.org/~mneideng/images/ - The Mark Neidengard Image Archives. Anime
pictures in a simple and easy to digest format. (70 pages
of Fushigi Yuugi pictures. When will the madness end?!?)
http://members.tripod.com/~Secludia/ - A page of Evangelion analyses. If necessary,
support from EVAS (Evangelion Viewers Against Suicide) will be
provided later.
Contacting the Officers:
You may call any of the officers at these numbers and contact
them via e-mail:
Aaron: x6232 (adseig@maila.wm.edu)
Rob: x4586 (rodiet@mail.wm.edu)
Tina: x4569 (txliux@maila.wm.edu)
They use Dial, don't you wish everyone did.
