In an effort to reflect economic trends in Japan in animation, the new Record of Lodoss War TV series is in the process of being modified.  Among the changes, Lodoss will no longer be known as the Accursed Island.  Instead, it will be referred to as Lodoss--the Island in Mild Recession.  Also, Ashuram's Demon Sword has been changed from Soul Crusher to American Bull Market.  In compliance with these efforts, the producers of Pokemon announced a new, as of yet unnamed, pokemon that wears red and white striped pants, a blue star-spangled hat, and knocks down Meowth and takes his money.

At the club, watched Escaflowne (but, of course!), Tenchi OAV, and, much to our collective chagrin, Otaku No Video.  The last one is worth mentioning because it is sort of a parody documentary on otaku, or fans, of anime.  Needless to say, some of us found it hitting a little too close to home.

Easy Question: Chu-chu is not technically a side-kick.  He/she/it is more of a vehicle for the animators to express their true feelings about the series and the bombings in Yugoslavia.  D's hand is a side-kick, whose relationship to D may be very well compared to that between Batman and Robin.

Hard question:  Oh My Goddess! receives special mention for actually throwing a keg party.  The Remnants from Combustible Campus Guardress receive special mention for resembling PiKA.
