Message From That Guy
Hey Readers! This week I'm not in Holy War mode, so I
think I'm okay. We're having fun here in the High Council office
writing the bios of people who haven't sent them in. We don't
know you all that well, but that's probably for the best.
We'd feel more guilty about some of the allegations we made
involving mackerel and a night in Amsterdam.
In other news, the Magical Girl game is ready to roll. All
interested go to the web page http://members.tripod.com/~chokinghazard/magform.html
and fill out the form. It will not only tell me when to schedule
sessions; it will generate your character. If you have any
questions about the whole venture, I'm still at section06@hotmail.com .
I'm looking forward to it; you players will get to deal with the
forces of the Otherverse, a cybernetically augmented rodent, and
a man who cannot speak without reminding one of a stuttering
muppet. It's all good fun. If you sent me an e-mail
or talked to me before, thanks. I remember it; however, to
make my life easier please do the form.
I'd also like to report at this time that I really enjoy making
snide comments about psychics when they don't want to cause stuff
to blow up. They're wimps. On the subject of wimpiness, a
highly placed source in the anime club has told me that Bust A
Move 2 is scaring people, so if people are interested, the game
for the previous hour before we start showing stuff (6PM-7PM) can
be King of Fighters '99, or something else more palatable, if
anyone familiar with our games wants to make a selection.

Well folks, the damage is done. Those who signed
up for Nekocon R are now being registered. That's right, I
sent of the list and the check to Nekocon. There are two
major ramifications of this action. First, everyone on the
list is going to Nekocon which means there's going to be a huge
number of WMAS members at the Con. Thus my plans for world
domination begin to unfurl. Actually, I was kind of
thinking we could design a logo, patch, or maybe a t-shirt for
ourselves. You could wear it at the Con (hopefully not all
three days, however) to show your slavish devotion to the
WMAS. Or, just use the t-shirt to stave off doing your
laundry for another day.
The second ramification of Nekocon registration is that I now
have no money. This is my subtle way of asking people to
pay me back. The registration rate is $27. Checks or
cash will be fine, but I'm afraid I can't accept barter.
One final detail concerning the Con is lodging. Please tell
me your preferences for where you are going to spend your
Neko-nights. Hotel rooms run about $72 per night.
Technically, the maximum is four, but we could, of course,
squeeze more people in. If people with transportation are
willing, people could go back to campus to sleep and rest up for
the next day of the Con. But you would probably be expected
to front gas money and whatever other fees they come up with ^_-
. So, basically, people who plan on going to Nekocon,
please send me your lodging preferences: hotel or not, number of
people you could stand sleeping in the same room, whether or not
coed is acceptable, and preferences about who you'd like to room
with.
P.S. You have no idea what sort of hell an anime newsletter
plays with spell checkers.
Tina's Column
For all those who didn't attend the meeting, we watched Record of
Lodoss War,
Slayers, and Kimagure Orange Road. We also decided to have many,
many
announcements. I know you've heard them before, but here they are
again. . .
Those that want to be able to check stuff out of our new and
functioning
WMAS library must pay dues to me. Again, $5 for a semester and
$7.50 for a
whole year. Neko-con R is coming up soon and the cut off date for
early
registration ends on Oct. 7th (I think). Register with Robbie if
you're
interested in going. If you don't make it to this Con, there will
be one in
the spring from Feb 11-13th. This is Katsucon 6 and those that
went last
year said it was a blast. Early preregistration for this con ends
Oct 31th,
so those that want to save $10 go to this URL http://www.io.com/~katsucon/main.html
Also, if anyone has any ideas for activities that the
club could sponsor,
please feel free to email us (No Tom, not that!). And if anyone
would like
to see the club purchase a certain series for us to watch during
the year,
tell us. If anyone wants to use the club money on themselves,
than feel free
to talk to Joe Mama, and he will help you.
On a side note, for all those that didn't attend the meeting last
Friday,
they missed seeing me in a nice black miniskirt, and a long black
cape. Abby
Reed, Jillian Kallman, and I are all a part of this small little
faction
called the Anime Babes, which we started last year. Mainly
because there was
a lack of female members in the club, but ever since we formed,
that has
changed. We have a webpage up at www.resnet.wm.edu/~anreed where
you can
look us up to find out more about why we are, who we are. There's
also a
little misadventure page where we have gone out and just sort of
. . .
wreaked havoc. But do check us out and yes, we are sane . . .
sort of.
Joe Mama's Smack Down of the Week
Fight the Power, Jingoro and, I swear, you will run
Free again. Don't let no Espers get you down.
Mini-Poll:
Is interspecies dating one of the greatest dangers
facing the Elf race these days? Is this because so few
people rarely hunt them to bind them on sacrificial altars
anymore, and are elves therefore feeling freer to assimilate?
Quasi-Trivia Questions:
LAST WEEK'S ANSWERS -- Easy: Who's sexier: Karla in
Leylia's body or Karla in Woodchuck's body? Leylia's body
wins. Sorry Woodchuck, the circlet and mauve cape just
aren't you.
Hard: If we were on Dragon Ball Z time, how long would our
meetings last? About an entire season. This is of
course dependent on how much of our series is imported and
translated at any given time. If FUNimation ever went
under, you'd never know how our meeting ended.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTIONS -- Easy Question: Who's smarter: Kyosuke
Kasuga or Parn?
Hard Question: A Tale of Two Cities starring the cast of Slayers.
Which city would last longer, London or Paris? Who is
Sidney Carton?
