WMAS Newsletter
Volume 2, Issue 8

"I'll be alright once I get some more blood..."
-Tina, staggering into the night after writing the newsletter.

"I still haven't heard anything about using Mil as the control stick for the demi-armor..."
- >(*_*)<

"Her penguin is small, fat, has a little yellow beak..."
"...sounds like Megumi Hayashibara."
- Ben and Aaron during the role-playing game,  both not quite hearing what the other has said.

"Make me Sex on the Beach."
-Tina, very out of context.

Message from that Guy
Hey folks!  I started the Magical Girl RPG recently, and it was fun. A short summary follows:
1. The magical girls gathered to find that their annoying little mascot was a chain-smoking fairy thing who had no concern for how they accomplished their goal, which was to get rid of Otherverse creatures wherever they should appear.  Then the fairy destroyed a stuffed Pikachu.
2. The players realized that many of them had not written down their characters' heights correctly, and some magical girls suddenly became much shorter.
3. The magical girls scored some free samples of food in a department store basement.
4. Then they went to a playground to check for the Otherverse.  Fortunately the Otherverse complied, and a whole bunch of polyester humanoids were shredded and tossed off of an 18-story building.
5. After that, they investigated a public school in which students were passing out for NO GOOD REASON, and after meeting the surprisingly unmotivated Nurse Joy, they sent the Keebler elves (don't ask) to find suspicious devices in the light fixtures, which they did.  As they were removing these devices, lots of Otherverse humanoid blobs and their leader showed up...

Quotable moments:
Aoi (House Jurai)- "Is that a penguin in your backpack, or are you just happy to see me?"

Hitomi (Linux, National Geographic, Smithsonian) - "I represent National Geographic."
Aoi - "Oh, you're one of THEM."

Kumako (WWF, Animal Planet, Timberland) - "Since childhood, we've been involved in some tape trading [for Animal Planet videos] with some people in Williamsburg."

Mercedes (Magnavox, Keebler, Michelin) - "I'm not going to smack you now, but be warned: some day I will kill you.  I am going to kill you."

Hitomi - "You don't like Japanese food?"
        Kumako - "Racist! Racist!"

Mercedes - "In the name of Keebler and love and justice and Magnavox and Michelin, stop your love energy extraction right now!"

        Aoi - "She's a deviant little fairy."

That's all for this week.  Tune in next time!

Tina's Corner

Last week we watched Slayers, Captain Tylor, and Saber Marionette J.  And for next week . . . who knows.

For the status of the Anime Club T-shirts, we are currently trying to get someone to design the T-shirt.  We were thinking of the idea that Sara Alexander came up with in the wee hours of midnight.  We're probably going to get the shirts next semester after we get all the designs straightened out.  Until then . . . go naked.

Also, we need for everyone that is going to Nekocon to inform us so we can arrange carpools and such.  For the week of Nekocon, we will not have a meeting, since basically all of the members will be attending the con.  Just wanted to let you know ahead of time :)

Happy, Happy >(*_*)< Time
Nekocon's in two weeks!  Hurray!  Even better, everyone's paid up!  Yay!  We seem to have enough rides, we have two hotel rooms, everyone who's going is registered.  I believe that we're set to invade Virginia Beach.  As far as paying for the hotel rooms, I'll be putting them on my credit card and we'll do the same deal, pay me back once the dust clears.  Boy....  It seems that I spend a lot of time hunting people down and taking their money.  Maybe, I should consider a new career....

As to date, I currently have three bios:  Sara Alexander, Michael Canada, and Jillian.  You three are on my happy list.  Those of you who have them on the way, you know who you are.  The rest of you will be made fun off, mercilessly, when the time comes unless you intervene with a bio.

Librarian's Lair
Hey folks.  Good news: a friend of mine from Korea currently attending LSU (and a good online fanartist) named Christina has agreed to help design the T-shirt if she can fit it into her schedule.  Now comes the fun part: me trying to tell her exactly what a "chibi Mecha-Blair" looks like.

Of course, if we are going to do this, we need to figure out conclusively what the concept for the shirt will be.  The officers as Lodoss War characters seems to be the most popular idea.  Next meeting, if you have ideas you think are better or other suggestions, let us know so we can start the planning process.

In other news, Aaron and Tina have kindly donated a few CD's to the library with more pending.  And don't forget you all can still check out videos and manga at meetings--whatever the librarians happen to bring or you can call or e-mail me anytime to request items to be brought.  We are here to serve you.  With wasabe and a little bit of soy sauce.

Joe Mama's Smack Down of the Week

Shit Tedd, I'll give you some M&M's bitch!

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Springs/2321/maze.html - Mimic's Rambling about Maze.  Not much to this page, but it's kind of worth it for the dancing Mil GIF.

http://users.vei.net/jng/fcp/main.htm - The Food Court.  A favorite from last year, involving a fellow making hilarious anime parody images.  Very funny except for this week's front page.  If you can make it past that, you should be alright, most of his stuff is NOT like that.

Poll Question:
Last Week:  Have you actually been reading the little line that appears after the Contact Info?
50% Yes
50% No
Number of respondents:  Unconfirmed

THIS WEEK: What's that smell?

Quasi-Trivia Questions:
ANSWERS:
EASY QUESTION: Who won the Miss Soyokaze contest?  Kara's answer hits the issue right on the head this week:  "Harumi won, of course, because everyone else's suit fit."

Hard Question: Please state all similarities between Chichiri (Fushigi Yuugi), Yuri (Galaxy Fraulein Yuna), and Mil (Maze). Which is most annoying? Who has the highest level of technological development?  -- All of them end their sentences with stative verbs, even if no stative verbs are necessary.  As everyone says,  "Mil annoys the hell out of me."  The highest tech-level is held by Yuri, whom as everyone knows is an android powered by food.

Bonus: What are they wearing right now?  You shouldn't think of such things, young grasshopper.

EASY: Better in Silk Panties: Cherry or Lime?
HARD: Who has more jobs: Sakura from Key the Metal Idol or Tina, secretary of the WMAS?
BONUS:  Who makes more money?
EXTRA BONUS: Which of the quotes did we make up this week?
