WMAS Cocktails:
Sex with Shiori-
Amaretto, grenadine, southern comfort; serve in a tumbler over
ice -- slowly.
Asuka on the Beach-
Half Kirin and half Beck's, with a couple drops of tabasco and
wrapped in a gauze bandage. Strangle thoroughly before drinking,
then say you're not happy with it.
The Smiling Kenshin-
Vodka, clear rum, gin, pineapple juice. Stir with a Men's Pocky,
and please don't tell us if you like this drink.
Dragon Slave-
Sloe gin, Frangelico, cherry brandy, and creme de banana layered
in an 8-ounce glass. Sure, it's more powerful than it should be,
but it fulfills its purpose.
Message from that Guy
Hey everyone! People came for the roleplaying game
this week, so I'm happy. Hope the players enjoyed it. And now a
recap:
Kumako, still stuck in the Otherverse, learned once again how
much it sucks to be a prisoner of the Otherverse. Kumiko, bitten
by a mosquito in Korea, contracted Tourette's Sleeping Sickness
and spent the rest of the episode in a violent twitching,
swearing, catatonic fit.
The magical girls got to Russia, but instead of finding a bounty
of black-market guns, they found a Japanese television crew and a
translator who told them that they needed a lot more money than
the 3200 yen in their pockets to get any sort of weapons. After a
pointless ride in a helicopter, they set back off for home, or
Tokyo at least.
Landing in Tokyo Disneyland, our favorite magical girl team
scammed their way in and Hitomi proceeded to abuse her optical
camouflage powers to steal a pile of Disney-themed items. Then
she rigged a laser pointer to be an intensely destructive if
slightly uncontrollable weapon. Seeing that Hitomi was doing all
the destructive work for everyone, the rest of the group got
jealous and decided that they were going to get the necessary two
kilometers of fiber optic cable by digging a hole in a
playground, attaching one end to the HMS Chemise, and
dragged it out of the ground, destroying a couple buildings in
the process.
The equipment now assembled, the magical girls set up their gate
on the Tokyo Tower, and off they went into the Otherverse. Then,
the gate closed behind them due to a serious flaw in gate design,
but they didn't care. They were on a mission, not that they could
necessarily agree on what that mission was.
Unfortunately, during teatime in the Otherverse, Lord Lamprey and
a largish fleet came to bug the magical girls. Isabelle, having
waited a long time for this moment, ordered that the levers be
pulled and the HMS Chemise became the SDF Chemise,
a mobile energy cannon platform so powerful the hover engines
only have 15 minutes of charge. The cannon whacked the fleet and
a good portion of Queen Stanley's palace, and the magical girls
took the opportunity to smash the Chemise into the side of
the palace, swearing that they would free Kumako and make the
Otherverse pay...
NOTABLE QUOTES:
On Money:
Hitomi - "We could sell Mercedes's internal organs."
Isabelle - "Do you accept virgins? I'm pretty sure
Kumiko's still a virgin!"
Mercedes - "I thought we were going to buy Disney
memorabilia to sell in Russia."
On Idealism:
Hitomi - "I take a Mickey and gut it!"
Mercedes - "I'm going to save the Earth, save the whales,
and save the children."
Isabelle - "She's a virgin."
Aoi - "They may not have fertilizer, but they're not
listless."
On Family:
Isabelle - "She's a virgin, and she's into incest!"
Aoi - "What?"
Isabelle - "You're a member of house Jurai."
Aoi - "Oh yeah -- Hey!"
On Duty:
Hitomi - "Since Kumako isn't playing now, we can leave
her!"
Aoi - "It occurs to me that we're doing a bit more damage to
socie--"
Isabelle - "Shut up!"
Aoi - "than the Otherv--"
Isabelle - "SHUT UP!"
I won't be here, so there won't be a game next week. Don't show
up. Stay on vacation.
Tina's Corner
Before everyone disperses to go home for Thanksgiving,
let's recap last
weeks video's. We watched Maze where there was a nice special on
Solude, the
last half-hour of Galaxy Fraulin Yuna followed by one episode of
Daiundoukai
Battle Athletes to balance out the . . . time inconsistency. And
for all
those Daoists, we did watch Irresponsible Captain Tylor, which
was very
interesting. Next week everyone will be watching football and
eating lots
and lots of food.
But there is some good news for all those who are interested in
watching
Princess Mononoke over break. It's being released in more
theaters over
Thanksgiving break and the full listing can be accessed at
http://www.princess-mononoke.com/04.html.
The areas closest to Williamsburg
are: RICHMOND at the Willow Lawn and
NORFOLK-N NEWS at the Columbus Center- Virginia Beach.
There could possibly be an Anime Club Road trip sometime during
the last few
weeks of break. Just keep your fingers crossed.
Also, there are still two more people who need to pay me back for
the
hotel fee. Kevin Christie and King Chan, I know where you live.
Just pay me
back sometime before the end of the year. Thanks :)
Happy, Happy >(*_*)< Time
Well, there's nothing much to say on this end while we
rush to get the letter out before Thanksgiving break.
Except, of course, for Katsucon! Yes, I'm still on one of
my con rampages. Since, pre-reg will end while we're on
Winter Break, I'd like to start collecting names of interested
members. Just send me e-mail telling me that you're
interested and you'll be on the magical list of Con-ly
goodness. Katsucon is the 11-13 of Feburary and, since it
happens to be in Arlington, we have a lot of housing
options. Aaron, Abby, and myself all live in that area and
might be conned into providing housing. Although,
personally, I would prefer a hotel room for that non-stop,
24-hour anime feel, I know finances may be a concern. So if
you're interested, tell me and make your housing preference (if
any) known. Also, if you're interested in cosplay, making a
music video, or practicing some karaoke, please tell me.
We're getting ready to take Katsucon by storm! For more
info, visit: http://www.io.com/~katsucon/
Other than that, Happy Turkey Day! Love, >(*_*)<
Librarian's Lair
I'm writing this from Ben and Aaron's room where
>(^_^)< and I are looking through a book on spy instruments
of sabotage while planning our upcoming Christmas gifts. Not much
new to report now, especially since there won't be a meeting this
week.
A week or two ago, I had the opportunity to watch Akira for the
first time with Alicia and Josh. I can honestly say, I found it
slightly less disturbing than the last episode of Yuna. I mean,
sorry, but cutesy android girls leaking weird yellow liquid just
isn't on my to-see list. Still, it's alright since I've got a
love-hate relationship with happy series getting really dark.
Seeing as how it's almost the end of our first semester with a
library, everyone feel free to give me some feedback on ideas for
improvement. Things have been pretty inefficient, but hopefully
that will change with the addition of an online check-out system.
Maybe I'll be able to go into this in more detail some other
time, but next semester, I plan on adding a couple of things to
the library. First there's the first third or more of the
surrealistic Revolutionary Girl Utena. Also the OAV series, Giant
Robo. Good stuff, both of them. I'm also looking into fansubs, so
I'll keep the club posted on developments.
In any case, have a nice break and enjoy the turkeyness. Let
other serve you this week.
Joe Mama's Smack Down of the Week
