"Better Lies Than the Government"
"What's our first quote of the day?"
"I don't know...the one that Rob said, about sex"
- Ben and Tina

"Rob, I don't really care what you do with the other club members, but I personally do not want to have sex with you."
"Okay."
- Ben and >(*_*)<, after a "treaty dividing the world between Spain and Portugal"

"Blue Turtle needs Pizza badly!"
- TMNT Legends

"It's okay [that April kissed Raphael on the head in the cut scene], what we don't see is that she gave the other turtles tongue."
- >(*_*)<

"No, what you should do is go in [to your room while people are in it] and cry and wail loudly, 'oh why oh why am I the club sex fiend'?"
- Ben

Message from That Guy
Hey! I'm back, and I brought VCDs! If anyone wants to see Gen-X Cops, come on down. Call first, though. I'm not always in.
Also, next meeting we will be having a short session to prepare for our semi-dramatic, fun fun manga reading of Miyu. If you want to do this, be there. You may not get to be a major character, but you might get to be a villain of the week or one of the many happy but imperiled schoolchildren.
And yes, I bought manga in Hong Kong. Yes, I have another surprise, but I'm not telling you what it is.

Welcome back all you deprived Anime lovers! We're back and ready for another semester of food, folks, and Anime. I'm hoping to spend the rest of the Anime club funds . . . on you all of course -_^
But other than that, I'm also hoping to participate in Ben's Miyu reading.
Yes, I have a treat for you all, not the same thing that Ben's bringing mind you. For all of you who went to Nekocon, you'll love this :) Speaking of Nekocon, I did post some Nekocon pics that Julie scanned for me on my webpage. The URL is www.resnet.wm.edu/`txliux/Photos.html
If you want to see a few pictures that were taken of the group, take a peek. Don't worry, there aren't any really questionable pictures in there, Mike ;)
I'm also expecting to the the Berserk OST in the mail sometime by the end of this month (or next). Once I do, I will have Aaron burn a copy and donate it to the library for all of you to enjoy. Of course, only if you have paid your dues which would be $5 for this semester if you have not paid for it already. I am still collecting and it's still not too late. And if you feel like paying for dues again, I personally won't mind :)

Well, we're back from vacation and about to resume the same old grind. I've spent the better part of my vacation familiarizing myself with basic arts-and-crafts and making a costume for Katsucon. Yes, that's right Katsucon 2000 is just around the corner (Feb. 11-13) and we're getting ready to party. So, here's some news for those folks who've registered Katsucon. First of all, those who registered through me owe me $30 for the registration fee (no, I'm not charging you for "services rendered," Katsucon is.) Secondly, I would like to have a meeting with all the people who are helping with the cosplay. It won't take long, I just want to touch base while a video is rewinding so please come to the meeting this Friday.
For those of you who want to know what the cosplay's about here's the basic idea. The skit is an episode of Family Feud featuring the Ikaris (Gendo, Shinji, and Rei) from Neon Genesis Evangelion versus the Natsumes (Kyusaku, Nuku Nuku, and Mrs. Mishima) from Cat Girl Nuku Nuku. And the whole affair will be hosted by Justy Ueki Tyler, age 20. As of yet, we have not cast a Mrs. Mishima, so if any of you fabulous Con-goers are interested in playing her please tell me. Her costume is very easy (a corporate dress) and she won't have too many lines, so don't worry.
Also, if any of you can get a car for the purposes of driving to Katsucon, please tell me. We're on the look out for drivers.
On a final note, anyone who has not yet registered for Katsucon, but has an inkling of wanting to go, it is not too late. It's never too late to register for a Con and you can even register at the door. While you may miss out on the nifty group rate, you'll still get the chance to hang out with your favorite group of anime psycopaths. ^_^

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great break and are ready for a fun semester. First off, here's a list of what's new to the library this semester, along with a short synopsis (I was born to do this).
By popular demand,
Revolutionary Girl Utena - [4 tapes, more pending] The story of Tenjou Utena, a girl going to an elite private school in which the student council apparently forms an apocalypse covenant (fighting for a mysterious girl called the Rose Bride in a secret duelist society) whose ultuimate desire is to become a prince, like the one who comforted her when she lost her parents as a child. From there it gets a little weird. Will Utena finally be reunited with her long-lost prince? Can she somehow free the mysterious Rose Bride? Are Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, princes on white horses, and true friends really just myths? If I knew would I be asking?
Giant Robo: The Day Earth Stood Still - [3 tapes] In the near future, mankind has developed a clean and efficient energy source called the Shizuma Drive. Now, a terrorist organization known as Big Fire is started targeting everyone and everything associated with Shizuma. Naturally, the only thing that can save the world now is a really big robot. Actually, this OAV series is surprisingly poigniant and has possibly the best ending I've ever seen in anime.
Maze OAV - [1 tape] Um... Maze: Bigger, longer, and uncut?? Not exactly... Outside of regular series continuity, Maze and her party meet Randi the fairy (alias Zuul: minion of Gozer) and must help liberate her homeland. But in the process they have to overcome an evil plot by Gorgeous, Male maze's raging hormones, semi-competent guardian beasts, and the quiz show from hell (how much Maze trivia do you know?). And plenty of fan service.
Violinist of Hamlin - [Same tape as Maze] Slayers is a series about a bunch of characters who, although have severe personaity disorders, are obscenely powerful. Take away the awesome powers, and you've got the Violinist of Hamlin "movie." You've got a dysfunctional party of adventurers who really aren't the folks you would want to go a-questing for you. Good clean fun.
Fushigi Yuugi OAV 1 & 2 - [3 tapes] Two years after Yui and Miaka were sucked into the ancient novel, The Four Gods, Sky and Earth, there's trouble again in the book world. The final fate of Tomahome, Miaka, Yui, the Suzaku Seishi, Taitsu-kun, and basically everyone in the whole series.
Cowboy Bebop - [2 volumes] In the not-so distant future, Spike Spiegel is an interplanetary bounty hunter with a past. Along with his partner, Jet Black, and a few friends they meet on the way... well... I don't actual know what happens after that... hey, I've only got the first 4 episodes! Anyway, a very stylish and unconventional sci-fi anime with a great jazz-inspired score by Yoko Kanno (Escaflowne and Macross Plus).

Joe Mama's Canned, Instant, Just-Add-Water Whoop Ass
Anytime a woman comes between a cop and his partner, there's bound to be some trouble. If you know what I mean.

Quasi-Trivia Questions:
EASY: Name three anime characters that have Cassius' "lean and hungry look."

HARD: Where do Randi's species of fairy nest in the wild?
