"More than meets the eye, but not by much."

"Why the Deedlit outfit?"
"So I don't have to be constantly reminded of the fact that you're my sister."
- Mei and Akira

"My transformation sequence is particularly unimpressive."
- Ben. Trust us, it is.

"So, Yuna, killed any android friends lately?"
"Shut up, Corkus."
- Corkus and Yu na

"Come on, everybody, bump yourselves!"
- Kris (Kara's roommate)

"Hellmaster, return to the Dark!"
- From the alternate ending to Slayers Next

"Although there are no mermaids flocking to me, these BBQ flavor Bugles aren't bad."
- Ben

"Hime-chan, change back or you'll be Sailor Saturn forever!"
"Ha ha ha! The power is mine!"
- Nonohara Himeko and Pokota from Hime-chan: Resurrection

"The Endemion Armor isn't designed for that level of firepower."
"Don't tell me what to do. That's Jedite out there."
- Allen and Mamoru Chiba from Sailor Moon Beyond

"To the revolution! But first, let's play some glam rock."
- Ben

"Oh, yuck...Randi, how many times have I told you not to shed your skin there!"
- Maze

"I don't need to know about the sordid life of your teddy bear."
- Kara

"Only in your demented perv-o comics."
- Kevin

"Zel, I think you'd look a lot sexier in one of those huge black capes. You know, like Larva has."
- Amelia

"Cephiro is not in chaos just because Zagato likes it rough!"
- Umi to Clef

"I'm representing Asia's gay community."
- Ben

"So this man looks vaguely like Gourry, fights like Gourry, has Gourry's sword, and Gourry was kidnapped recently...I wonder who he could be?"
- All the characters in Slayers last week

"This is going to be the sickest fashion show I've ever been in."
- Ben, not talking about Taste of Asia

"Parn, you are NOT from the clan McCloud, and you are certainly NOT immortal. What's with you today?"
- Deedlit

"Hey Fuu-ster! The Fuu-meister! Fuu-o-rama!!!"
"What, Ms. Hikaru, Esq.?"
- The subtitled Rayearth

"So after I drink this, I'm not going to wake up in a crashed plane in the Swiss Alps, right?"
- Ben, worrying over a proffered beverage

"Hello. My name is Yuna. You killed my friend. Prepare to be my bestest buddy in the whole world."

Message from That Guy
Light up the stage and bring on the dancing mounties. Damn, that was a good awards show. And Haley Joel Osment is probably the first child actor I've seen that doesn't disgust the hell out of me when they're not acting. Or when they are acting, for that matter. What a cutie.
ACen registration is still open 'til the middle of next month. Remember, it's http://www.acen.org Why am I drumming up support for this? Because it'll be fun. Try it. I've actually heard it's one of the best cons in the country by way of how they treat both guests and con-goers, as well as the sort of entertainment ... and 24-hour video rooms. Mmm ... endless Cha-Cha ...
Also, quick apology to anyone I've been snippy at, but it's been a hard time for me, mainly having to do with family and the prospect of having to live with them next year if everyone doesn't get reinstated. Basically, just go easy on me this week ... that is, no jabs at my art, no calling me a prude, and no ranting about how wrong "Pink Lemonade" is (actually, those make me sad even when I'm in a good mood). Then I'll be happy. ^^; Sorry again for the snippiness. Blame (Mike) Canada. ^.~

Words For the Loyal
Hey again! No big news for this week. I've been alternatingly busy and lazy.
Speaking of which, we're 100% out of Miyu for this year. So, right before the club meeting (6:45PM onwards) I will be holding a discussion of the next project, the highly amusing Satomi Hakkenden. No, it's not the one Aaron's downloading, but it does sometimes sound like it. If you want to be a voice, show up then.

Okay, so here's my news for the week.  First of all, let's all get excited about the Anime / Skiffy Dance this Saturday in Tazewell Hall basement.  It's going to be super keen, neat-o.  Wear costumes, wear formal suits, wear anything, but make sure to wear something (TOM!)  If there are any songs that you would like to have played, be sure to let us know because we are making the playlist now.

Secondly, I've finally finished my first music video, The Major-General Tylor, a setting of various anime scenes to "I am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General."  I will be debuting the video in club this week and, chances are, I will be submitting it for competition at Otakon.

Speaking of Otakon, (August 4, 5, 6 in Baltimore, MD) is anyone planning on going this year?  If so, would you like to join us in our arranging of hotel and transport miscellany?  Would you like to cosplay?  Would you just like to dress up as something?  Well, in any case, let us know if you're interested in going.  It's the biggest con on the East Coast and is sure to the a blast.  If you need to know more go to www.otakon.com.

Mike's Corner of Unknown Miscellany
Hey everyone. I've got a few things to cover. Anyone who didn't get a chance to see Taste of Asia missed a great show. Rob, Tina Liu, Tina Wagner, and I were involved in an exciting (though last-minute) kendo demonstration that left at least one of my friends saying of your secretary, "It looked like she was really trying to kill you..." Alicia was involved in a JCA skit of Edo-period samurai drama, complete with suit-wearing yakuza, hakama worn over inverted T-shirts, and a pretty realistic-looking .45. Finally, Tina directed/choreographed the collaborative fashion show at the end along with another girl. It was a big hit and I made an appearance in there as well. And for the record, yes, we tried to cram as much anime music into the show as possible. Kendo sparring was done to the Miyu TV opening theme, the first skit in the fashion show began with an Escaflowne song, and the second skit involved a KASA member singing "Eyes On Me" from Final Fantasy VIII.

That's about it from my corner of the woods. See you all at meeting. Let one of us know if you've got ideas for the dance or are willing to donate time or decorations to help out. We live to serve, but we've got to have stuff to serve first!

Joe Mama's Smack-Down of the Week
"No get, no get!"? Whaddaya mean "no get"? I was at Taste of Asia last week, gettin' myself a little "taste" of Asia.

Poll Question:
THIS WEEK:  List the three Pokemon most likely to be used in Slim Jims.

Quasi-Trivia Questions:
EASY - Could Zelgadis's problem be solved with a simple bottle of skin-medicating lotion.  If so, which brand.  Show all work for full credit.

HARD - Gatts versus Mil.  Describe in iambic pentameter, haiku, or free verse. Wait until the allotted time has expired before going on to the next section of the test.
