About
Background
2008 marks the six annual Cans Film Festival. Since 2002, the festival has been on campus at the College of William & Mary every spring semester, sometimes including events held at the historic Kimball Theater. The festival is run and organized entirely by students of the college, but has grown to screen submissions from directors across America (and sometimes Canada).
Goals of the festival include: to showcase student-produced, underground films for the college and greater Williamsburg area; to encourage and foster activity in the burgeoning Virginia independent film scene; to gather canned food donations for community food banks and local charities with campus Hunger Task Force.
