Who should attend ACES Preparatory Workshop?
If you plan to take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam for athletic training certification within the next nine months, this workshop could be your ticket to successfully completing the exam. Prior to attending the ACES Preparatory Workshop, you should have completed the required academic course work (or be currently enrolled).
The ACES staff works hard to keep all materials used in our workshops up to date with information about the BOC exam. We take great pride in presenting accurate and current information about test design and format. All details regarding the test is carefully researched from information in the public domain published by the BOC.
Upon Completion of the ACES Preparatory
Workshop, the Student Will:
Identifying Your Students' Strengths and Weaknesses
Several athletic training education programs use the ACES Preparatory Workshop as an external evaluation of their curricula. If an institution sends 4 or more students to a workshop, we will send a report back to the program director that identifies the group's strengths and weaknesses based on the Role Delineation Study. In this way, program directors can find out which topics they cover well and which topics might need further instruction in order to best prepare the students. Therefore, the ACES Preparartory Workshop can benefit the supervising athletic trainer, as well as the athletic training students that he or she supervises.
Our workshop is not designed to teach your students how to become athletic trainers in a weekend--they have had countless hours of classroom instruction and clinical experiences to prepare them to be athletic trainers. Rather, our workshop is designed to teach students to study more efficiently and to attack the exam with a systematic approach. Our workshop doesn't prepare them for the exam as much as it prepares them to prepare for the exam...Hosting an ACES Preparatory Workshop

The Role Delineation Study serves as the "blueprint" of the BOC Exam. The 6th Edition of the Role Delineation Study has been released by the Board of Certification and will be in effect for the April 2011 Exam and beyond. The Mock Exams of the ACES Preparatory Workshops are designed with the same ratio of questions as the Role Delineation Study to give participants the most accurate evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses.
Day One (5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)

Registration Fee
The cost for the ACES Preparatory Workshop is $195.00 (not including lodging). Packets with additional information will be sent to you upon receipt of your application and deposit. If paying by credit card, charges will appear on your bill as "Tribe Club".Early Registration Discount
If one person registers and pays for a workshop at least three (3) weeks prior to the scheduled workshop, the cost will be reduced to $175.00.Host Site Discount
If a student who attends the host institution registers and pays for a workshop at least three (3) weeks prior to the scheduled workshop, the cost will be reduced to $145.00.Cancellation Policy
Registered students who find that they are unable to attend the workshop for any reason may request a full refund of all monies paid up to three weeks prior to the start of the workshop--after that date, a $50 Cancellation Fee will be retained by ACES and remaining funds will be refunded.ACES is not responsible if a workshop is cancelled due weather conditions.
Accommodations
ACES will provide each participant with a list of hotels in the area and discounted rooms at a local hotel are blocked for the workshop site when available. Participants make reservations directly with the hotel. Confirmation emails with additional information will be sent upon receipt of application and payment.
Meals
Lunch is provided on the second day as part of the workshop. Efforts are made to book a hotel that provides breakfast.

NATA Study Guide for the BOC Exam
In 2010, the National Athletic Trainers' Association partnered with ACES Preparatory Workshop to launch the NATA Study Guide for the BOC Exam.Through two mock exams, the NATA Study Guide for the BOC Exam can help identify your strong and weak knowledge areas so you can better prepare for your certification test. These mock exams will expose you to both the content matter and the “feel” of the BOC exam, increasing your chances of success!
The NATA Study Guide for the BOC Exam will:
- Help a candidate understand how to use the Role Delineation Study in exam preparation;
- Evaluate a candidate’s knowledge of topics within each of the domains;
- Increase a candidate’s understanding of tasks within the Role Delineation Study;
- Provide a detailed report of the candidate’s performance on the mock exams to identify areas of weakness that require further study.
