Renée A. Cork, MEd, ATC Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine B.S., Physical Education, Iowa State University, 1986 M.Ed., Physical Education (minor in Health Education), Southwest Texas State University, 1989

Renée was head athletic trainer at Drew University before coming here.  Renée is an American Red Cross CPR and Sports Safety Training instructor.  She also handles our scheduling matters for the athletic training facility.  She does a great job in monitoring what our teams are doing on a daily basis, as well as where they are at any given time.

Renée works primarily with women's basketball, women's distance, and the throwers on the track team.

Renée enjoys reading, music, gardening, and cooking, in addition to taking walks on "DoG Street" (our slang word for Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg).

Renée hails from Elgin, IL and resides in Williamsburg.

Andy Carter, MS, ATC Senior Associate Athletic Trainer B.S., Kinesiology, The College of William and Mary, 1998 M.S., Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, Illinois State University, 2000

Andy, a former Tribe student athletic trainer, joined the staff in 2000 as the Director of the Athletic Training Education Program to take the program through the two-year process of CAAHEP candidacy and accreditation.  As a member of the faculty of the Department of Kinesiology, Andy developed and taught the five athletic training courses offered by the College of William and Mary.  At the end of the two-year period, the decision was made to discontinue the pursuit of accreditation, so, in the summer of 2003, Andy moved into the athletic training room full time as the Associate Athletic Trainer.

Andy now oversees the health care for the football and men's and women's golf programs. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Andy is also involved in sports medicine education on many levels. He is an instructor for the ACES Preparatory Workshop.  He coordinates the Sports Medicine rotation for the Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program in which resident physicians rotate through the Division of Sports Medicine to learn sports medicine techniques and orthopedic exam skills. Andy also assists Michele with the athletic training aide program in which pre-med and pre-physical therapy students work alongside the staff in the clinic and on the field. Each spring, he teaches a graduate course at Old Dominion on the evaluation and treatment of the spine.  

Originally from Fieldale, VA, Andy resides in Williamsburg with his wife, Kristina, who is a physical therapist at Williamsburg Physical Therapy, and his son Spencer.

John H. Knaul, MS, ATC Associate Athletic Trainer B.S., Athletic Training, Alfred University, 1997 M.S., Education, Elmira College, 1999

John joined the staff of the Division of Sports Medicine in 2000 after a stint as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lafayette College.  Prior to that, he was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Elmira College. 

John will be working primarily with men's soccer, men's & women's swimming, and women's lacrosse.  He also handles inventory, supply, and purchasing for the athletic training room.

He is originally from Auburn, in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY.  John resides in Williamsburg with his wife Katie, who is a fourth grade teacher for Williamsburg-James City County Schools.

Michele R. Heisel, MEd, ATC, PES Senior Assistant Athletic Trainer B.S., Athletic Training, California University of Pennsylvania, 2003 M.Ed., Education, University of Virginia, 2004

Michele joined the Tribe Sports Medicine staff in August of 2005.  Prior to coming to Williamsburg, Michele served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Moravian College for one year.

While at William and Mary, Michele oversees the health care for the volleyball, men's tennis and women's tennis teams. In addition to these clinical responsibilities, Michele is the insurance liasion and athletic training student aide coordinator.

Michele resides in Williamsburg with her husband, Ian.

Lisa N. Shook, MHS, ATC, PES Senior Assistant Athletic Trainer B.S., Athletic Training, Salisbury University, 2003 M.H.S., Concentration in Education, Western Carolina University, 2005

Lisa joined the staff of the Division of Sports Medicine in 2005.  Before coming to William and Mary, she worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Western Carolina University while completing her Master’s degree.

Lisa will primarily work with the men’s basketball, and cheerleading teams, as well as the jumpers and sprinters on the track team. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Lisa is also in charge of overseeing all medical clearance and insurance information for the student-athletes throughout the year, as well as the sports medicine website. 

She is originally from Towson, MD and currently resides in Williamsburg.

Hollie J. Walusz, MA, ATC, PES Assistant Athletic Trainer B.A., Athletic Training, University of Northern Iowa, 2005 M.A., Specialization in Athletic Training, University of North Carolina, 2007

Hollie joined the staff of the Division of Sports Medicine in July of 2007.  Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate work at the University of Northern Iowa and then worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of North Carolina for women’s basketball, crew, and the fencing teams.

While at William & Mary, Hollie will work primarily with women’s soccer and baseball.

Originally from Mason City, IA, she currently resides in Williamsburg.

Tracey C. Eisen, MS, ATC Assistant Athletic Trainer B.S., Rehabilitation Sciences/Athletic Training, University of Pittsburgh, 2006 M.S., Exercise, Nutrition, and Eating Behavior, George Washington University, 2008

Tracey joined the staff of the Division of Sports Medicine in July of 2008. Prior to this, Tracey completed her undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and then worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. for the men's soccer team.

While at William and Mary, Tracey will work primarily with field hockey and men's and women's gymnastics.

Originally from Silver Spring, MD, Tracey currently resides in Williamsburg.

Bryce W. Mueller, MS, ATC Assistant Athletic Trainer B.A., Athletic Training, University of Northern Iowa, 2006 M.S., Athletic Training, West Virginia University, 2008

Bryce joined the staff of the Division of Sports Medicine in July of 2008. Prior to coming to William and Mary, he completed his undergraduate work at the University of Northern Iowa and his Master's degree at West Virginia University. While at West Virginia University, he worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for a local high school.

While at William and Mary, Bryce will work with the men's distance and football teams.

Bryce is originally from New London, IA and currently resides in Williamsburg.

Adam A. Nelson, BS, ATC Intern Athletic Trainer B.S., Athletic Training, Slippery Rock University, 2009

In addition to his athletic training room clinical duties, Adam will help out with the football and baseball teams this year.

Adam is originally from White Oak, PA and currently resides in Williamsburg.

Crystal R. Nelson, BS, ATC Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer B.S., Athletic Training, The University of Tampa, 2008

Crystal will be working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer while pursuing her MSEd at Old Dominion University. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Crystal received her B.S. from the University of Tampa, where she worked men's basketball, NFL-Europe, women's volleyball, women's soccer, Seminole High School football and with the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League.

In her two years at William and Mary she will be working with the football, baseball and men's and women's gymnastics teams.

Michael B. Potter, MD Team Physician B.S., Biology, University of Virginia, 1992 M.D., Texas A&M University College of Medicine, 1996 Residency, Riverside Family Practice Residency Program Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, Wake Forest School of Medicine

Dr. Potter joined our staff in 2002 to serve as the Team Physician for the College.  He is Board Certified in both Family Practice and Sports Medicine.  In addition to his duties at the Student Health Center and the Division of Sports Medicine, he is in private practice with Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group.

Dr. Potter enjoys running and participates in the many 5K's in the area.  Dr. Potter and his wife, Andrea, live in Williamsburg.  They have three daughters--Abbey, Hannah, and Brooke.
