McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center
On May 16, 2003, the Women's Hall of Fame lost our founder and devoted friend when Mark McCormack died. The Hall of Fame, established in 1995, could not have become a reality without Mark. Not only did he contribute funds to build the facility but also once it was built, he continued his financial support for every aspect of the Hall of Fame including the exhibit and the induction ceremonies. Marks' interest went well beyond providing funds. It was not his nature to start a project and walk away. He wanted to participate in setting standards and procedures to ensure the quality of the facility. In this regard Mark constantly contributed ideas and inspiration, which made the Hall of Fame what it is today. He and Betsy participated in the presentations at the Induction Ceremony each year. Mark also had his television company produce the video for the ceremony and another promotional video for a reception in New York during the US Open that he and Betsy sponsored to expose the Hall of Fame to a broader audience. What Mark has given women's tennis through the Hall of Fame is immeasurable. Creating the Hall of Fame had no business advantage for Mark, he did it because he loved tennis and he wanted women to have the same recognition that men have at the University of Georgia. In appreciation for all that Mark has done for women's tennis, I encourage you to make a memorial gift in Mark's name to the Women's Tennis Hall of Fame. This gift will help endow an operating fund for the facility. Print and complete this gift form and mail with your memorial gift today. Unless you specify otherwise, Betsy and the McCormack family will be made aware of your gift. Thank you for your interest and support. Mildred B. West |
