Lori Korinek, Ph.D.

Lori is a Professor in the Special Education Program at the College of William and Mary. She teaches courses, presents and conducts staff development in the areas of learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, curriculum development, and instructional strategies. Her current research projects involve team problem solving and collaborative service delivery for students with special needs. She assists with the design of effective staff development experiences and dissemination of innovative instructional practices.


Sharon H. deFur, Ed.D.

Sharon is an Associate Professor in the Special Education Program at the College of William and Mary. She teaches courses, presents and conducts staff development in the areas of instructional methods for students with mild-moderate disabilities, collaboration, and secondary transition. Her current research projects involve transition services in Virginia, evaluating instructional models for student with mild-moderate disabilities in middle and secondary schools, and identifying effective instructional and transition practices for secondary students that support success in standards based education and post-school outcomes. As a Co-Principal Investigator at W&M T/TAC, Sharon assists with the design and evaluation of T/TAC’s professional development activities and with T/TAC’s linkage with state and national initiatives in special education.


Denyse Doerries, Ph.D.

Denyse is the co-director and moderate disability/behavior specialist at the College of William & Mary TTAC. She has 30 years of experience as a school psychologist working with both general and special education students and professionals from pre-school through college. She received her M.S. in School Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in Counseling from the College of William and Mary. The instructional support team state initiative is a particular area of interest for her. Contact Denyse for assistance with functional behavior assessment, positive intervention strategies for students with significant attention problems and mental health challenges, teambuilding, and assessment issues.

Sue is the co-director and inclusion specialist at the College of William and Mary. Sue joined the T/TAC in 2000, bringing with her 26 years of teaching students with disabilities and administering special education programs. She earned a B.A. in Elementary Education/Special Education from James Madison University and a M.Ed. in Special Education from the College of William and Mary. Contact Sue for assistance with inclusion, collaboration/co-teaching, teaching techniques, teambuilding, content enhancements, co-planning, and best practices for students with mild/moderate disabilities.


Scott Bray
Secondary Specialist

Scott joined T/TAC in July 2007, bringing with him experiences as a general education secondary teacher, administrator, and SOL test developer. Scott earned his BA in history from Randolph Macon College, an MT from the University of Richmond, and his Ed.S in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. Contact Scott for assistance with co-teaching at the secondary level, strategies for effective teaching at the middle and high school levels, and effective data practices.

Fritz joined the T/TAC staff in July 2006, bringing with him 10 years of experience in special education and technology integration. He earned his B.S. in Psychology from James Madison University and his M. Ed. in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.


Debbie Grosser

Debbie joined the T/TAC staff in July 2006. She brings with her 19 years of experience in special education as a vocational evaluator, special education teacher and transition specialist. She earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her M.Ed. in Special Education from the College of William and Mary.


Kristin Holst

Kristin joined the T/TAC staff in August 2004. She brings with her experience both as a special education teacher and an administrator. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, earning her B.S., and then went on to gain her M.Ed. at Lehigh University. She also has her administrative licensure from the College of William and Mary. Contact Kristin for assistance with transition, secondary instructional strategies, functional behavioral assessment and administrative issues in special education.

Butler joined the T/TAC staff in August 2006, bringing with her 19 years of experience working with students and professionals at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in both general and special education settings. She earned her B.A. in Sociology and Elementary Education from Hollins University and her M.Ed. and Ed.S. in Counseling from the College of William and Mary.

Dale joined the T/TAC staff in 2000 bringing with her 29 years of experience as a general education teacher and administrator in Virginia’s elementary and secondary schools. Dale earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Longwood College and M.Ed. and C.A.S. degrees in Educational Administration from the College of William and Mary. Contact Dale for assistance in the areas of middle and high school curriculum modification, teaching techniques, learning strategies, collaborative planning and teaching skills, and transition services.


Tina Spencer, M.S.

Tina joined the T/TAC staff in July 2003. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees at Norfolk State University. Tina brings with her 25 years of teaching experience as a special educator. Most recently, she spent three years as a member of the SOL Excellence Team for Newport News Public Schools. Her duties as an SOL specialist included curriculum revisions, teacher coaching, classroom observations, teaching model lessons, and team planning. A key responsibility was planning and conducting staff development sessions for teachers. Contact Tina for assistance with collaboration, instructional strategies, and support with the Standards of Learning.


Donni Stickney, M.Ed.

Donni joined T/TAC in 2002, bringing with her 19 years of experience as a general and special educator. Donni has experience as an Instructional Support Team (IST) member and teacher. Being involved in the initial implementation of Instructional Support Teams by the Virginia Department of Education, Donni knows IST firsthand. This initiative trained support teachers and teams in several of Virginia’s schools. Donni was an IST teacher in one of these schools. She earned her B.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of South Florida and a M.Ed. in Education from Old Dominion University. Lee Anne joined T/TAC in 2002 as a secondary education specialist bringing with her 13 years of educational experience as a general education teacher and, most recently, as a coordinator of professional development. Lee Anne earned her teaching credentials, B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature, and her M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the College of William and Mary. Contact Lee Anne for assistance with the Standards of Learning (SOLs) and special education students, inclusion and co-teaching at the secondary level, classroom organization and strategies for effective teaching at the middle school and high school levels, and transition.

Mary Beth joined T/TAC in November 2007. She brings with her 22 years of administrative assistance experience. Mary Beth worked for Johnson & Johnson as a Sr. Administrative Assistant for 20 years prior to joining T/TAC.


Laura Soerensson

Laura joined T/TAC in April 2008. She has a B.A. in Communications from the City University of New York, Bernard Baruch College. Laura lived in Europe for 11 years where she studied languages. She is fluent in German , Spanish and has good working knowledge in French.
