PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Job Title: Administrative Assistant for the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at The College of William & Mary. This position reports directly to the T/TAC Co-directors.

The College of William & Mary Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC W&M) anticipates an opening for a highly qualified person to join our team of professional development and school improvement specialists. We are looking for someone who is interested in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment that offers ongoing personal learning and an opportunity to support inclusive educational practices for students with disabilities.

Job Description: The administrative assistant supports the work of the T/TAC specialists who design and deliver professional development (e.g., workshops, onsite team problem solving, written materials such as brochures and newsletters, website resources) that facilitates school and classroom use of research-based instructional practices to improve educational outcomes for children and youth with disabilities. Because T/TAC W&M specialists provide both onsite and offsite training and technical support to school teams that serve students with mild to moderate disabilities, the administrative assistant is pivotal to the planning of conferences, assisting in the preparation of workshop materials, arranging and scheduling meeting locations, providing workshop supplies, duplicating materials, and working with catering services. Additional job responsibilities include data entry into the state reporting system, creating data-based reports, maintaining the website, trouble shooting problems with equipment, supporting specialists in the use of software programs, providing office support, assisting the business manager in researching products and prices of equipment, supervising the T/TAC library and the T/TAC graduate assistants, and working as a liaison with instructional technology.

Job Requirements: The T/TAC administrative assistant must minimally have a high school diploma. He or she must have 3-5 years of experience preferably in an educational setting, and demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experiences:
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and community members
• Demonstrate skill with Windows-based programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe Pagemaker, and Filemaker Pro 5.0.
• Work independently and manage professional time effectively
• Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats (experience working with editors preferred)
• Enter data in both an accurate and efficient manner
• Create and maintain databases such as a newsletter mailing lists
• Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Maintain and update websites
