Each October, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources coordinates a month-long celebration of archaeology. Exhibits, lectures, site visitation, even hands-on participation are some of the exciting events offered, as archaeologists share their research with the public. This year Hopewell archaeology will feature prominently, with the following special events at Weston Manor:

• October 14, 10:00 am
"New Archaeology at Weston Manor in Hopewell," a talk by Dennis Blanton, director of the College of William and Mary's Center for Archaeological Research

• October 28, 29, 30, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
Volunteer excavation, with room for six volunteers each day. Please email or telephone (757-221-2580) to reserve a spot. Even if you don't want to dig, come on by for a close look at archaeology in action!
